This is the second time Brian Stewart has been on DFW Sportsbeat and he's still talking up Louis Delmas.

I am beginning to wonder if he's telling us something indirectly...

I know a lot of people have Louis Delmas listed as the best Free Safety on their draft boards, but when Stewart says he's the best Safety available and he's talking about what 'they' want the Safety to do you have to wonder if he's been chatting it up with his former buddies over at Valley Ranch.

Or he could just be thinking that if he had Delmas there last season maybe he would still be the Defensive Coordinator.

I also notice Jairus Byrd is listed on there as a Safety when most teams probably still have him as a CB. Maybe that's another hint that Stewart is getting from Valley Ranch.

Max Unger would definitely fill the need at Guard and he could be the backup Center too. I don't know if he would beat out Kosier in year one, but he's probably a better run blocker than Kosier is right now. The kid is big and has good feet...

Dorrell Scott is more of a NT prospect from what I read about him. Another hint?

Sidbury, Phillips and Gilbert would all be solid additions to this team.

The word is that the Cowboys love Brian Robiskie and James Casey because they are football smart and both could possibly push Patrick Crayton for the 3rd WR spot. I guess most of us have already given the #2 spot to Miles Austin, lol.

McBath is not playing CB in the NFL and he's definitely a possible at Safety.

There were a lot of names in there I am on board with drafting.

Make it happen Jerry!

Since Brian Stewart sucks as a coach, I would run from anyone he thinks is good. Delmas scored 11 on the wonderlic....run away as fast as you can from this guy.

Now we are picking players based on the wonderlic?

Yes, I would use the wonderlic in my evaluation of players. I think if you ignore this valuable information -- it will come back and cost you in the end.

Football is not only physical, and players who make bad decisions or choices cost their teams big time.

FWIW, Drew Boylhart (thehuddlereport.com) considers James Casey the best TE in this draft, and rates him as a 1st round talent. He thinks he compares to Tony Gonzales, and will have an immediate impact. So, he probably won't be available in the later rounds. Also, he thinks Max Unger is a top 10 talent, and may be the best OLman in the entire draft. He absolutely loves this kid.

If the Cowboys view Max Unger as a future starting LG, I approve drafting him at 51. I've given Bat a hard time, because I thought Unger was being projected as primarily a center. Sorry, Bat.

They obviously like him. He would be an upgrade over Kosier when he's ready. He is big and can get a little bigger and stronger. He does have great feet, and he was finishing his blocks. He moves well. He looked good getting to that linebacker, and we all know the Eagles and Giants love to crowd the line with them. He is not the mauler Wood is, but Unger is smooth and strong enough. He is going to beat you with his technique and great feet and smarts. A guy like Unger could help a runner like Felix Jones. Unger's athleticism or ability to pull and get to the second level would give the Cowboys' offensive line a boost. I can see Felix Jones running behind him on that sweep play to the left.

The Cowboys usually like the maulers or power players, so liking Unger tells me that Kosier has showed them that a little finesse on the offensive line can help. One of the first things Phillips did when he arrived, was to move McQuistan to LG. I just thought the Cowboys would want a power player at LG, with size. They have looked at them.

I didn't realize some teams were viewing him as primarily a guard. Hey, I was wrong about him. If you want that athleticism (lateral movement, ect...), Unger is the way to go.

The Cowboys need a guard, imo. Unger gets rid of Proctor and gives you a big, young, and athletic option at LG.

Max Unger may be the player they want to trade up for.

Stupid people do stupid things.

I honestly wouldn't pick anyone who scored single digits so Delmas just makes it.

Yes, I read the write-up.

He was raving about him.

I really hope we can get him.

He only scored an 11? That's disheartening to know. I don't understand how a person could score that low on that test. It's not like it's an extremely difficult test. That would bother me, greatly, about the persons mental abilities.

my thoughts on the wonderlic test is this;
what did parcells & belicheat say, they want smart, intelligent football players

if your not smart, which i think some of the now dallas cowboys players are, you just dont get things and you wont improve, like have a poor work ethic and attitude, but smart football players get it, work hard and produce

so yes, you have to have some smarts, common sense as a football player

I heard Delmas may go in the late 1st to very early second now.

Some scouts think hes the best safety in the draft. I doubt we'll get a shot at him even if we do trade up.

All of this ignored the fact that the Cowboys traded for Montrae Holland, who was seeing snaps by the end of the year. If it weren't for his injury, he most likely would be in the starting line-up this year, considering the style of Houck.

I am not familiar with Delmas. Regardless of what people think of Stewart in this sight, he was the DC for the past couple seasons (almost anyway...) and probably has a good idea what they are looking at for players.

Would you guys be happy with Delmas at 51? Will he be available? I don't know anything about him really.

How many games did Montrae Holland play last year?

Did he eat his way out of Denver?

The Cowboys obviously like Max Unger even though he doesn't fit the Houck mold in terms of power or weight. Kosier isn't in that mold.

If Stewar had any inside info, he might still have his job. Even Wade does not have a say in who's drafted, per Jerry.

I do think it's odd that a defensive coord that is 1 year removed from the team and knows Wade Phillips's scheme, is slurping Louis Delmas and saying "He does what they need him to do". So basically if he was still there he would pick Louis.
