Thanks for the footage. Lokks like Davis wasn't too bad. Ware and Ellis are premiere rushers. The reports are true, once Davis gets his hands on you, it's over. I think we have a player here.

Only thing he really struggled with was the outside Rush and unless hes playing tackle we wont have to worry about that.

Other than that though you could tell he was giving good effort and when he locked on it was over.

I loved the way Watkins bounced off Davis when returning that INT...

What I noticed is that he obviously has a problem with outside speed rushers, but he continuously owned Canty and Hatcher in both run and pass blocking. What's great is that, as a guard, he'll be facing guys more like Canty than Ware.

Are you sure that wasn't a Ware highlight film. I think I heard his name at least 10 times.

One thing is for sure...he won't be getting "Rivera'ed" 4 yards into the backfield on every single play.

I am kind of torn on what to think of this video...either our DL are on the verge of Pro Bowl seasons....or we may have a case of buyer's remorse. Sorry, not trying to be pessimistic, but I love the Cowboys as much as the next guy, and this was not that impressive

I don't think that either are true really. Our DL, well Ware made him look him bad, but if you look at the video and picture what he can do at right guard, there is alot to be excited about. When the action was in front of him, he dominated, he also did a good job on maintaining his protection lane and switching off which is essential in the Guard position. The only area he struggled at was the outside pass rush, something he will not face at RG. He will need to work on maintaining his blocks longer though. But that is just coaching.

1st off thanks for the video.
Secondly, if we were to put Davis on the left side of that line, it would be over for defenses in the running game. And also, as everyone's mentioned, when he locks on to someone, it's basically over for them.

3:37 mark. Wow just wow. It's only one play I know, but look at how he just owned Hatcher driving him 7 yards off the ball. RG > RT for sure.

what stood out to me was davis held his ground pretty well, and greg ellis schooled their RT. run blocking 2-3 yds are nice. but i want to see him pancake and totally collapse the line.

they gave him some help by using a TE next to him to keep the defender from running around him. don't even need TE to chip block, just run a route and it gives davis enough time.

Thank for the vid clips.

:)

It's nice to know he can play LT in a pinch but that's not at all where he should be, although he played better there than I expected when watching the clips.

If you watch these clips, his ability clearly translates really well to the guard position. And I'm psyched about it.

Great job, Everlasting... :clap2:

Looking at that, LT looks like the worst position LD could play. He definitely doesn't have the agility for that, and to make someone that big and strong back up and set play after play is a real waste.

But he does look like he's making the effort, and he seems to use good leverage most of the time. I bet he'll be a lot better with a better line coach, a better surrounding cast, and a better position.

I also wonder if he'll be better with Juraszic. Whisenhunt might have changed it, but for years the Cards had a strength coach that emphasized slower lifting, more like bodybuilding than sports training. I remember Emmitt talking about that when he got there. But the Parcells-style cleans and jerks and explosive lifting might get a little more out of him than what he was exposed to before. If he just keeps his weight down, he should be a very good guard.

Oh, and BTW... Brooke's video wasn't too bad, either.:

Hopefully that video was of Davis at his worst, because if he can play worse than that and we are forced to use him at tackle due to an injury, we're in for a loonnnnnng season.
