And this guy is NOT in the Hall of Fame! That was Green one of the best cornerbacks to play the game and our Mr. Irvin made a career of running circles around him. Not to mention what he used to do to Dieon everytime he played against him. He played against the best and beat them continuasly. How there is a chance he'll slip right past the HOF is possibly one of the greatest travesties in all of professional sports. He was a force of nature! This guy was the best WR to ever play the position in my opinion. Not even the great Mr. Jerry Rice is in the same league if you ask me. Rice had the benefit of better quarterbacks and didn't have to play second fiddle to the leagues all-time leading rusher for the duration of his career.
It just boils my blood that people can't distinguish his on-the-field accomplishments from his off-field discresions. It really is a sneak peak at what's going to happen in a few years when another flamboyant WR much like Irvin comes up for the Hall after he retires. And I think we all know his name. And the irony is many of our fan's are turning right around and playing the same game with Owens, entirely ignoring his on-field dominance and only noticing his off-field shinanigans. And the problem is Football has become like a Soap Opera for men. Somewhere along the way their personal lives started mattering to us. We started judging them all for more then what they do on Sunday upon the football field. And the double-irony is, these two men are probably the two greatest Soap Opera actors this league has ever seen aside from their football dominance, yet they won't even be recognized for that by the Soap viewing fans. A fickle bunch of women we have turned into.
