Like most games, there are some very controversial calls or non-calls made. I thought this was an obvious Pass Interference call, but after seeing it discussed on the boards, I am not so sure.

In the video, especially the replay, it seems like Watkins hits Johnson before the ball arrives, I thought that was Pass Interference?

It very well could have been called. Watkins got there before the ball and ran into the WR. I'm glad it was not called but had they threw the flag I don't think I could have argued with the call.

IMO, he's making a play on the ball, and he actually gets to the spot before Johnson by dipping his shoulder underneath Johnson. You'd be just as valid to argue offensive pass interference.

It could have gone either way IMO, but I thought when it happened and I think now that Watkins was making a play on the ball. And that being the case I don't consider it PI.

Even still, they would have had to get the ball another 13-15 yards to have a good chance for Hanson. They had 7 seconds left. It would have been close.

He was definitely going for the ball and seeing it live at the stadium, my first thought was offensive pass interference. They only showed one replay on the jumbotron and it still looked like either offensive PI or a no call situation. In any event, P-Wat was definitely going after the ball.

Looks like pass interference. Sure, Watkins has a right to the ball, but it looked like he came through Johnson to early.

In any case, it was very close. Could have gone either way.

Sorry guys you can't go through the WR even if you are trying to make a play on the ball. WR had the inside postion and Watkins ran into him. Had the shoe been on the other foot I can promise we would be hearing how the refs hate the Cowboys and how unfair it was. I know the Lion fans are saying the same.

He was, and he doesn't have a good voice either. It is monotone. His word choices are dull. He says "good job" or just "job" too many times.

So was Joe Buck. I found him more annoying than ever yesterday. When we had that double delay of game penalty because of Romo spiking the ball Buck made some stupid comment about how we were going to move 10 more yards back. You would think that with how long these guys have played or have been in broadcasting they'd know how to do a better job.

I like to try and look at these objectively and the reality is that if it was Dallas on O, we'd all be clammoring about the 'fix' being in...It was at worst, 50/50 and at best a missed call...Lions had a right to be upset about it AND it was at home, no less.

The number of bullets the Cowboys dodged yesterday (PI calls, fumbles, 4th down plays)?...Crazy

He got there early, but appeared to be going for the ball. There was contact, but didn't appear to be an effort to tackle or hinder CJ from going for the ball himself.

I think we got lucky

Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to:

(a) Contact by a defender who is not playing the ball and such contact restricts the receiver’s opportunity to make the catch.

(b) Playing through the back of a receiver in an attempt to make a play on the ball.

In my opinion (and the refs as well), Watkins WAS making a play on the ball and did NOT climb over his back to do so....he beat him to the spot of the ball and was shoulder to shoulder with him when the ball arrived.

That call wasn't as bad as the earlier no-call PIs and the phantom fumble recovery early in the game. Never seen a fumble recovery called like that.

All I can say is Aikman is wrong in claiming that as a clearly blatant PI when is not "clearly" at all. Aikman states Watkins was not playing the ball when the replay shows that is exactly what he was doing.

What I see in the replay is Watkins "clearly" going for the ball, and yes, contact was made, but when a defensive player goes for the ball, that contact is allowable.

But of course...I wouldn't expect nothing less from the Chicken Fried Nation (as Randy Galloway likes to call the Cowboys fandom) :) .
