Romo to Austin: Last week to this week

By dcfanatic,

We do realize the play that won the game for the Dallas Cowboys was the same play that wound up in an interception just last week...

It's very encouraging to see these two guys work out the kinks and light up the Chiefs defense for a game winner.

Now what happens to Miles Austin? Does he go back to being the 3rd WR or does he take over the #2 role and Crayton goes to the bench?

That question is going to get worked to death over the next two weeks, lol.

Interesting breakdown by Hoge. I disagree with the video comment at 3:19- Austin stepped toward Romo in the Denver pattern; in the KC pattern, he did a 180 degree cut that would've allowed him to cut off a sideline ball. Might not even be the same pattern, as the KC route seemed shorter.

Austin needs to put a few games together before I even think about the depth chart, though we wouldn't be talking about this if we had a true WR1. I remember Kevin Williams going off against Buddy Ryan's Cardinals once. I heard last night that Austin was targeted 15 times- 8 more than Roy in any game. That could be the makings of chemistry but probably has more to do with gameplanning and/or exploiting matchups. Mohammed Mossaquoi blew up for one game this season also.

Regardless, Austin's speed, combined with our lack of options, makes him well worth the rooting for. But now he's on tape for ATL so, if anything, I'm looking for Roy Williams to remember Wally Pipp and sack-up in two weeks.

Regarding Dilfer's comments at the end, finally someone gets it. This is NOT the most talented team in the NFL. They are what they are. They had huge question marks coming into this season at WR, on the OL, whether or not they had a reliable pass rusher across from Ware, and all around depth on both sides of the ball. But they are a good football team that will make a run of it if they can stay healthy and play up to their potential.
