Troy and Buck kept harping on the non-calls the Refs didn't make during the game. Jon Kitna even made it a point to seek out the Fox sideline reporter at Halftime and let her know how bad he thought the game was being called.

I think Pat Watkins interfered with Calvin Johnson but I thought it was great coverage by Roy Williams and not Pass Interference.

Discuss?

I think it could have been called because he had his arm on his shoulder, but it would have been ticky tacky. It wasn't as blatant as the one against Miles Austin against GB that Collinsworth and Gumble kept harping on as not pass interference when by rule it obviously was.

Actually, I don't think Watkins was PI at all. He played the ball. Both the receiver and the defensive back are allowed to play the ball. Buck and Aikman were wrong about that one.

If it was, it definitley wasn't as blatant as Troy/Buck made it seem.

I think Roy was closer to being called for PI then Watkins was. Watkins was a good play he was playing the ball the whole way and cut in front of Johnson who ran into him. Roy kinda had a hand on the guys shoulder but I don't think it was enough to hinder him from catching the ball.

Roy Williams could've been flagged, Watkins' play was clean.

You're allowed to cut off the receiver if you're making a play on the ball. He hit Johnson in the chest so it wasn't like we went through the back like Troy and Buck were saying.

My understanding of PI rule is that RW would have had to pull on the receiver's arm/shoulder in order for PI to be called. He, in no way, hindered the receiver's opportunity to catch the ball. Defenders CAN touch a receiver, they just can't hinder the receiver's opportunity to make the catch. I'm sure someone will let me know if I'm wrong on that interpretation.

I just watched it. Roy did get his hand on him and it could have been called. My guess is the reason it wasn't called is because Roy was making a play on the ball and thats what the ref saw instead of his hand on his back arm. That combined with the fact that it didn't cause a significant motion of the receivers body is the reason for the non-call. It was a magician's slight of hand magic trick by Roy.

Yes he did. He pulled down on his back arm. You need to watch the clip again.

They were both playing the ball.

True, but the fact that Roy pulled down on the receivers arm makes it a PI infraction.

I didn't think so. But the Watkins one was questionable.

He never pulled down on his back arm. It looks like he did form the angle facing toward the endzone, but from the angle facing from the side of the endzone you can see that he did not.

Watch the clip at :29-30. You can see that his hand is on the outside of his arm.

In the view from behind the right cornor of the endzone between second 29 through 31 of the clip you can clearly see Roy pulling on the receivers arm.

its not PI, I'm not sure what some think they are seeing

on top of that, I'm not sure he could have caught the ball anyway even if RW was nowhere near him...probably the only thing concussion brain got right eysterday was saying if the ball was down and towards the middle more, they had a shot for a TD

that was pretty good coverage by RW by the way...he was right there
