I know a lot of people are still skeptical of how far Romo can take this team.

Don't put me in that club at all. I think he's going to get his mind right and his game will come along with it.

And I know he's going to enjoy playing football again without someone like Terrell Owens around.

What QB would be able to enjoy playing in an environment where your teammate is always ready to start speaking out about how you and the offensive coordinator are doing everything wrong while he's doing everything right?

Tony Romo will be just fine in 2009.

i admit that i blamed romo alot last year for alot of mistakes but i have moved on. he is our QB and support him. i think alot of his mistakes had to do with him trying to make TO happy. now that he is gone romo will be a better player.

Since when was TO speaking about Romo left and right? The guy talked all year about Garrett. I find it funny that people try and absolve Garrett, by associating Romo with Garrett, when it comes to TO criticizing people. Aren't people forgetting not only did TO criticize the OC, Tony Romo called him out and so did Roy Williams....

Roy Williams called out Garrett as well, and he also called out Romo much more blatantly than Owens ever did.

"The gunslinger ain't throwing the ball my way."

The difference is in the attention each event receives. Roy's comments aren't magnetized by ESPN the way Terrell's are, even if he's essentially saying the same thing.

And THAT has to do with the reputation Owens built up during his career before Dallas.

But I agree that Romo will have a stellar 2009. :)

Let's not say 'a lot of people are still skeptical.' Let's say 'a vocal and clueless minority on this board' and just leave it at that until proven otherwise.

Romo should have the huddle and not anyone else. TO was I believe just his nature not willing to take a backseat as a leader on any team. He must be the main man and his skill has always warranted it.

Now his game is slipping and I think this why he was cut and I think he willl play 1 more season. Buffalo will see he is inconsistent now and not resign him and nobody else will.

Very simple.........Did Mcflabb and Garcia enjoy playing with T.O after he started his usual foolishness? Think not. And heres the real key..........T.O says that when he goes public with things its only to help the team. O.K,....did it help the 49,rs ? Did it help the Eagles? Did it help our team? The answer to thosequestions would be no, no, and HELLLLLLLL NO! So we can only conclude that either A......T.O is flat out stupid because he has made the same mistake three times and three times its ended up in FAILURE, or B....He really doesnt give a dang about the team and the real reason he goes public with his tiradesis to serve his own personal agenda, or C........BOTH!....Either way, were rid of him now and all the better for it. His track record flat out sux. Pretty much the entire media told us it would end this way if we signed him. We didnt want to believe it. You have to ask yourself what is more likely.....for almost EVERYONE in the media to be wrong and ONE T.O to be right, or could it be that the simpliest answer is the correct one ? Romo will be fine/ GREAT in fact now that the bloodsucker is GONE!

You'd have an argument if the teams actually listened to his advice. What did the 49ers and Garcia actually do without him. Garcia hasn't sniffed over 20 TDs since that era, and he's played in a West Coast system for awhile. As far as the Eagles, it wasn't even about the 'play' of the team, it was about his contract. His personal agenda, or whatever you want to call it, has never really been served.

Garcia took the Eagles and Bucs to the Playoffs. McNabb has been to the NFC Championship game without TO. We couldn't win a playoff game in 3 years with TO. Is it all his fault, no, but no one can honestly say TO puts the team before himself. TO is a me person and always will be.

What's telling is that McNabb got to two Campionships games without the likes of T.O. on the field, and once advanced to the Super Bowl without him. Last year, Philly proved that T.O. was not the be-all-end-all, and McNabb proved that a QB can still play well without a overly-talented crop of WRs around him, so long as he has a running game. Well, in Dallas, Romo no longer has T.O., but he has great QBing talent, and he has the running game.

My thought on TO is that I was a fan of his while he was here, but whatever was going on just wasn't working. I blame that mostly on the OL. However, it did seem Tony was forcing the ball to TO. I don't want to say that we couldn't win it all w/ TO and I won't say that we have a better shot at winning w/o him. I will say that now the spotlight is on Tony and we will see if any of this TO garbage was just bs or if Tony just isn't who we thought he was.

enjoying football is irrelevant... TO didn't make him fumble and be careless with the football. poor coaching & an overpriced contract are more at fault. zero accountability to jerry.

without Tuna & co. (or real head coach & OC) Romo is a complete crap-shot against decent teams.

Garcia didn't play a full season with the Eagles and they released him. With the Bucs, he only threw a measly 14 or so TDs. It was the defense that got the team to the play-offs. They released Garcia as well. The guy is a journeyman QB. The fact is, Garcia's best year and McNabb's best years were with TO.

But that is all besides the point. The argument is that when TO allegedly goes public, it causes the team to fail. But nobody listened to TO's complains when he went public. His voice didn't change how Garrett approached the offense. His personal agenda, once again, has never been served. Everytime he left, the team went into a slide.

McNabb didn't get them two championship games on his own shoulders. They have one of the best head-coaches in the game in Andy Reid and a HoF DC in Jim Johnson that got them those games. Further, the fact is, TO was essentially replaced by Westbrook. When Westbrook goes down, the Eagles offense goes down. While TO may not be the end-all be-all, Westbrook shows that the success of a QB is usually contingent upon another great player.

BTW, McNabb had his best numbers ever with TO, and it isn't even close with his other years. He was on pace for even more ridiculous numbers the next year with TO, but the split happened. We, as the Cowboys, were actually lucky that split happened, otherwise the Eagles would have probably had their SB right now, because that offense was flat-out ridiculous.

Well, I guess Tony won't throw an interception or fumble once this year.

He'll be better this year as he improves yearly anyway. But even TO didn't make him that careless with the ball. Neither did Wade, RJ or Bill.

Tony can fix Tony.

You know he threw for 26 TD's last season in 13 games right?

Just asking.

Yeah and we went to the playoffs with Quincy but numbers don't tell everything and you know that DC.

I saw the games last year and it was kind of bad seeing Tony play at times. You knew the gaff was coming. Each and every game you knew the bone headed play was coming. He looked less like the play maker last year as opposed to the years before and despite him settling in the pocket (as so many have requested he needed to do), he still threw those gutt wrenching picks that made me wanna burn down the sports bar I was in. Let's not even talk about if you fart on him the ball is coming out and you can bank on it!

Regardless of the amount of td's, what does it matter if you almost automatically are gonna cost your team at least 1 fumble and 1 pick a game?

Was he the total problem last year? Of course not. However, Tony was not the symbol of excellence some here would like to think.

Now on a good note. With T.O. being gone this reminds me when the Giants got rid of Shockey. Shockey always tried to show up Eli. Always voicing out loud or making gestures towards the QB in regards to a play that he didn't like. Tony has to feel a lot more relaxed this year with having a guy who has the camera on him after every play because the media is looking for anything to create a controversy, banished to New York.

Tony has no excuses this year (neither does Garrett) unless injuries really play a part or another one of our WR's decide to start mouthing off.
