I know I get on Terrell Owens like no other, but he is a good man off the field and he doesn't get enough credit for what he does with his life outside of football.

Now if he would just...

Ahhhh, shut up DCFanatic!

Don't ruin the one good post you had about the guy in about 5 months, lol.

Dam you TO. Please be quiet.

You are NOT a role model. You only promote cancer and disharmony wherever you go.

So what, you beat the odds growing up and overcoming adversity.
So what, you MADE YOURSELF a great WR.

Big deal. No kid can get anything positive from what you have achieved.
Bid deal. Other kids are down and out and may be inspired by your story and excel themselves.

I agree TO's a good guy and sometimes gets a bad rap. The thing that bothers me about this is that TO's expected to be a role model for black americans. Why can't he just be a role model in general. Is Jason Witten expected to be a role model to just white americans? It just doesn't make sense to me.

They both can be role models to any child, but you have to admit that people relate to those they perceive to be like themselves. A poor black kid probably does identify with TO moreso than a poor white child who is probablay more likely to see himself in Witten, especially if that white child is being abused like Witten was. I don't think it's a racial issue as much as it is an identification issue.

Well said. All the diva attitude on the field seems to not only overshadow the play that he brings to the team but the good stuff he does off the field, even to the point where he gets lumped in with criminals like Jones, Tank, and others when they talk about cancers and what not on a football team.

I totally get what your saying I just think little things like that are what keeps divisiveness alive, as subtle as it may be.

TO is a good dude at heart, just handles certain situations the wrong way on the field.

Honestly. Who would want their kids to have T.O. as a role model. I would want my kids looking at D.Ware as a role model.

Role model? The football player or the man? For all the downside to TO he is not a guy running around getting into trouble off the field, you never hear stories of him going out and getting wasted or causing problems. His biggest problem that I have seen is he wears his emotions on his sleeves and over reacts to criticism.

A good role model shows good character in all phases of life. No matter if it would be in football or outside of football. That is why i would want my son looking up to men like D.Ware, Tiger Woods, and Micheal Jordan. T.O.?? Please give me a break.

I did not say he was a role model I don't think any of them are role models. Jordan Mr. big time gambler is a role model? I think TO is an immature man but I also think he is not as bad of a person that some claim him to be.

Jordan has lost a boat load. Look everyone has their flaws and when you are a celebrity the flaws get magnified. I look at people who are role model are those who have an impact on a person life day to day. I think kids emulate what they see in celebrities

Terrell Owens is someone who could only be known as a Pro Football Hall of Fame bound player and philanthropist, but he is not. One could say that either the media's fully to blame or partially to blame, but stating the former would be false and the latter is only correct to a certain point.

The bulk of negativity attributed to him is a result of his own actions. He should continue to be charitiable towards others, but there will always be a cloud hanging over his good deeds.

"Why?"

Heck. Whether he publicly admits it or not, even Terrell Owens knows the answer to that question.

The fact that he is charitable and has pulled himself up from such a low point says more aout him than people are willing to admit. People WANT to focus on the negative because it sells. TO makes mistakes. But his just get multiplied because he is so hated. Hell watching a sallas game you could swear there is a TO cam.
