I said you post things to get attention, and that you trump up stories. I think that's a great hobby, but it's hardly confusing you with 'the media.' You are a blogger, which is a medium of sorts. Just one with virtually no barrier to entry and no qualifications required. But that wasn't the question.
I asked because in the other thread, you went pretty far out on a limb saying the Dallas Cowboys don't need these types of comments. That they were reminiscent of what TO had said, and that this stuff festers and hurts the team. I'm paraphrasing, but I think that's pretty accurate.
What Roy actually said, though was that he was happy to be in Dallas. Just to play for Dallas. Happy to be part of it. He's just going to play. That no matter what he says, it'll get pointed at in a negative way, so he's going to shut up and play ball. The whole season. He'll handle the media just like he did in that interview: going to keep quiet, continue to play with a smile on his face. I think the guy interviewing him even said 'Sounds good' after that portion of the interview was concluded.
So I asked you a straightforward question as to whether hearing the interview in context changed your opinion on how damaging the comments were. Clearly they didn't, and clearly I think they probably should have given the actual context of the interview.
I don't mind him acting like Marion Barber.
But telling the media this will only put a target on him.
And T.O. was happy to be in Dallas until the very end. That had nothing to do with the 'media war' which happened last season.
We had an owner put a gag order on the coach once the season ended.
We had a player shouting out his displeasure with a reporter and then having to sit down in front of Christmas tree to discuss issues which should have only been discussed, if they even existed, behind closed doors.
And we had three of the team's biggest stars doing post game interviews on the field within moments after a big win answering questions about the 'team's chemistry issues'.
That's three strikes for me. Let's not act like the Cowboys and media didn't have major issues last season. Issues that were not common, even for the Dallas Cowboys.
So we were getting back on track. The stories over the last few months were back to being about football. Were they not?
Guess what the stories are going to be about this week.
So no, the Cowboys didn't need this as they head into training camp.
Also you will notice the reporter says 'Can I ask you if this was your best offseason, can I keep it general like that?'
Why is he asking the question in that manner? To me it seems as if he was alerted beforehand not to ask certain types of questions.
A reporter doesn't ask a player if he can this type of question or that type of question, he just asks the question.
And how come I only post stuff to get attention and that I trump up stories when the issue at hand puts a negative light on the team?
When I post that Tony Romo and Jason Witten can be the connection that leads this team to the Super Bowl no one says these things.
Message boards are so much fun.
