Kevin Williams-DL- Vikings Sep. 11 - 11:38 am et

Vikings DTs Kevin Williams and Pat Williams will be available for the entire season after the U.S. Court of Appeals ruled that their case will stay in Minnesota state court.

The decision basically allows the Williams Wall to continue playing, and the state trial will resume next spring. The decision is great news for the Vikings defense and bad news for the running backs on the upcoming schedule, including Kevin Smith, Frank Gore, and Ryan Grant.

I think Brett is going to have to show me he can stay healthy. I don't know if he's going to be the Iron Man he was previously. If he does stay healthy...watch out.

I think he has a better chance in Minn to stay healthy give the fact that Peterson is still the main weapon for Minn and that will prevent Brett from having to throw the ball as much as he has in the past.

LOL @ the Vikings having a shot at the super bowl. Favre is the very reason they don't.

i think that with farve not throwing in training camp and offseason, his arm wont be worn down as much.

way i hear it, packers, eagles, vikings, giants are the favorites this yr to get to the superbowl.

thats better for the cowboys because now the boys can fly under the radar

with vikings great defense, especially with kevin and pat williams being allowed to play, along with their great rb peterson, now the vikings have a shot. especially if berian the wr with speed starts clicking with farve at the end of the yr.

way i look at it, hopefully the packers and vikings beat each other up, while the eagles and giants beat each other up, so the cowboys can sneak up on them.

And the Jets.....weren't in the in the playoffs, largely due to Brett Favre.

This conversation was about Brett Favre, no? Oh yeah, it was.

Brett is an addition, that Minn team did pretty well given the fact they got poor play from their starting QB in large part because Peterson and a good defense. Brett may not be the same QB he was as a young man but he is still way better than Jackson.

Let me add the Jets went from 4-12 to 9-7 with Brett at QB.

Not sure. He is the big threat of the Vikes offense. Teams have to play the run which should help Brett quite a bit.

I'm not one who worships Favre but being unbiased and looking at the Vikes they were 10-6 and division winner with Tarvaris Jackson at QB, people would have to have blind hatred of Brett not to think he is way better than Jackson and should be a big help to the Vikes. Enough to make it to the SB? I don't know but I do think the Vikes will be in the thick of the race

I've heard a few guys - Mortenson, Peter King, a few others - talk about how the Packers had a personal trainer with Favre working out every day in Mississippi in the 2007 offseason. The result was Favre's best season in years. It sticks out like a sore thumb amongst his last 4 seasons. Since 2004, he's generally been average, or worse.

In the 2008 offseason, he basically didn't work out at all, and save for a few games, wasn't very good in NY. He once again did virtually no conditioning, then waits until training camp is over before calling the Vikings.

I don't see a 40 year old guy who didn't keep himself in shape leading a team to the super bowl. I heard this asked the other day, and I guess it's the case....when has a QB who skipped training camp lead his team to the SB?

Anything can happen, just like it did with the Cards last year, although that was the flukiest super bowl run in memory. Their defense is good, but hardly dominant. I think they'll be better than last year, but I don't see a 12-4 team that establishes itself as a SB favorite.

Brett does not have to lead them. He is better than Jackson and the Vike rely on Peterson and a very good defense. The ideal that the QB leads the team to the SB is laughable there have been many less that great QB's who have played in the SB. As for the Vikes defense it was ranked 6th in the NFL and #1 vs the run. I don't know if the Vikes will make it or not I do know they are a real contender. I also say this not as a Brett Favre fan but I don't base views on hating other teams or players which seems to be a pretty common thing.

Here are Bretts stats the last year he was in GB.

attempts 535
completions 356
completion % 66.5
yards 4155
TD's 28

Yes, he had a down year with the Jets. He also had a torn bicep, or whatever he had. He was also in a new system, in what is also known as the windiest stadium in the league in NY.

Now he has a very good Defense
Has the best rb in the league
Has one of the best O lines in the leauge

For you to "Lol" at the Vikings having a legitimate shot at the SB is pretty ignorant.

Favre doesn't have to do much for the Vikes. Just manage the game. There is absolutely enough talent everywhere else for them to win.

If you don't think he's a big jump in talent from Tavaris or Sage, you just don't know football.

I do think the Vikes should be smart and not have Brett throwing over 500 passes.

He won't throw that many, not with AP back there. I see alot of short, high percentage passes for him this year. Dump offs to Peterson, Chester, and Visanthe. Also look for some quick screens to Percy Harvin in space.

I'm telling you, its a tough team. You sure can't run on them, and they can pound it down your throat.

To dismiss them from SB talk because Favre is there, is pure lunacy.

And here are his stats for the last 5 games with the Jets:

Attempts:175
Completions:98
Completion %: 56
Yards: 1011
TDs: 2
Ints: 9
QB Rating: 55.2

And of course, the most important: 1 win, 4 losses.

Oh, you can say he was injured. But exactly why am I supposed to believe that a 40 year old QB will last all 16 games without some sort of injury. Oh, and by the way, the Vikings gave up the 7th most sacks last season (43 sacks...wowzah Brett, enjoy).
