Vikings are open to trading DE Jonathan Greenard

yes i was injured this past year.

Jonathan Greenard is set to miss the 2026 NFL season after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery in December 2025, which ended his 2025 campaign. The Minnesota Vikings announced his placement on Injured Reserve on December 17, 2025, following a reaggravated shoulder injury during a game against the Dallas Cowboys. Despite battling through the injury for several weeks—including returning to limited action and starting in key games—Greenard’s season concluded with 38 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 12 quarterback hits, and 10 tackles for loss in 12 games (10 starts).

Welp.

No, Jonathan Greenard is not out for the 2026 season due to injury. He suffered a shoulder injury during the 2025 season, which was reaggravated late in the year (around December 2025). This led to season-ending shoulder surgery announced by the Minnesota Vikings on December 15, 2025, causing him to miss the remainder of the 2025 campaign (he played only 12 games that year).Reports from that time, including from Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell, described it as a "pretty standard kind of shoulder injury" with a "routine procedure" expected to allow him to be "back on his way to being 100% and ready to roll." Multiple sources indicated he should be recovered and ready for the start of the 2026 season.

Had some very productive years in 2023 and 2024 (12.5 sacks each of those seasons). Last year he had a drop off but also missed games. May be able to be had for a Day 3 pick (4th rounder?)
Not a bad deal if it could be done

12 for 18 and Greenard.

If you go by the trade chart its the equivalent of a late 2nd round pick.

They get their cap relief. Cowboys get their edge and still retain two 1st round picks.
Nice work. Gets us down to were a safety could make sense

That wouldn't be bad. I mean, I'd be happy to trade for Crosby, but he'd cost us more. Of course, I don't know if Minnesota will just want to trade up instead of getting an extra pick. Might have to sweeten it with our fourth-rounder.

For a 4th it would be a no brainer

Shoulder injuries for DL are not good as they are getting there arms twisted around a lot. I would be hesitant to give anything earlier than a 4th for him but that 4th is conditional on his recovery and ability to play the 2026 season. i think the better option is here is a 4th in 2027 if he meets playing time and health it can escalate to a 3rd if he makes pro bowl its a 2nd.

Would do this all day everyday - pick swap on the 1st an try and get a 4th back

I think this was well thought out. Points wise it’s the equivalent to a late second round pick. We have plenty of 5ths so throwing one of them in maybe but it’s actually a really good offer. Abd he has 2 years left on his deal. And he’s 18 mil so not a huge cap hit compared to Crosby and his 30 mil though Crosby is signed longer. Ghe real beauty is it’s a draft swap, we still have all our picks, unless we threw in a 5th which we have multiple of
