Cowboys, when facing a offense ranked in the top half of the NFL this regular season (final ranking-yardage), went 4-4 (Beat NO, ATL, PHI twice, Lost GB, SD, NYG twice). Vikings went 4-2 against such teams (Beat NYG, BAL, GB twice, Lost PIT, AZ)
Cowboys, when facing a defense ranked in the top half of the NFL this regular season (final ranking-yardage), went 5-5 (Beat CAR, WAS twice, PHI twice, Lost GB, SD, DEN, NYG twice) Vikings went 6-2 against such teams (Beat BAL, SF, CIN, NYG, GB twice, Lost CAR, PIT)
Cowboys averaged 280.2 passing yards per game this season, Vikings 275.2. Vikings threw 8 more TD passes and 2 fewer INTs. Both teams allowed 34 sacks.
Cowboys averaged 131.4 rushing yards per game (4.8 ypc), Vikings 119.9 (4.1 ypc). Vikings rushed for 5 more TDs, but lost 3 more fumbles.
Vikes were ranked #2 in NFL vs run, Cowboys #4. Against the pass, Vikes were #19 vs the pass, Cowboys #20. Vikes allowed 7 more TD passes than Dallas, but both teams intercepted only 11 passes. Vikes led NFL with 48 sacks, Cowboys were 7th with 42 sacks.
Against teams that reached the playoffs, the Cowboys were 3-2, the Vikings 4-1.
The ONLY thing the Cowboys have in their favor is that the Vikings stumbled down the stretch, going 2-3 in their last five while the Cowboys were 3-2. Other than that, the two teams are very similar statistically. Keep in mind that most of the Vikings struggles came AFTER Antoine Winfield came back. Unless you want to hang a lot on Jasper Brinkley's growing pains, there isn't really any reason to think the Cowboys are superior to the Vikings in any way.
