Cowboys, when facing a offense ranked in the top half of the NFL this regular season (final ranking-yardage), went 4-4 (Beat NO, ATL, PHI twice, Lost GB, SD, NYG twice). Vikings went 4-2 against such teams (Beat NYG, BAL, GB twice, Lost PIT, AZ)

Cowboys, when facing a defense ranked in the top half of the NFL this regular season (final ranking-yardage), went 5-5 (Beat CAR, WAS twice, PHI twice, Lost GB, SD, DEN, NYG twice) Vikings went 6-2 against such teams (Beat BAL, SF, CIN, NYG, GB twice, Lost CAR, PIT)

Cowboys averaged 280.2 passing yards per game this season, Vikings 275.2. Vikings threw 8 more TD passes and 2 fewer INTs. Both teams allowed 34 sacks.

Cowboys averaged 131.4 rushing yards per game (4.8 ypc), Vikings 119.9 (4.1 ypc). Vikings rushed for 5 more TDs, but lost 3 more fumbles.

Vikes were ranked #2 in NFL vs run, Cowboys #4. Against the pass, Vikes were #19 vs the pass, Cowboys #20. Vikes allowed 7 more TD passes than Dallas, but both teams intercepted only 11 passes. Vikes led NFL with 48 sacks, Cowboys were 7th with 42 sacks.

Against teams that reached the playoffs, the Cowboys were 3-2, the Vikings 4-1.

The ONLY thing the Cowboys have in their favor is that the Vikings stumbled down the stretch, going 2-3 in their last five while the Cowboys were 3-2. Other than that, the two teams are very similar statistically. Keep in mind that most of the Vikings struggles came AFTER Antoine Winfield came back. Unless you want to hang a lot on Jasper Brinkley's growing pains, there isn't really any reason to think the Cowboys are superior to the Vikings in any way.

I was unaware that the Vikings were tops in the NFL in sacks, certainly something to be concerned about, obviously they have a beast in Allen v. Flo and Edwards v. Colombo. Do they blitz alot too? Can't recall too many Vikings games I've seen this year.

Forgot to mention, not sure how accurate this stuff is. I was browsing their forum and saw this post.

It really offends me when fans use bad logic like this instead of using just an ounce of intellectual analysis.

The NFL is about match-ups, not how they did against common opponents.

If this logic were true, the Eagles should have destroyed us because they owned the Giants. They did not because we could take away what they did best and they could not stop what we did best with what they had on the field.

You look at each team, its strengths and weaknesses and then contrast to the opponent and compare how the two match-up. Statistical mumbo-jumbo about how well this team did versus "playoff opponents" etc. is irrelevant. All that matters is how you match up versus the opponent.

You can use these numbers in lots of ways.

For instance, norm was talking about yesterday that of the vikings 16 games, 11 were against teams ranked in the bottom of the league in offense.

So does that skew their defensive stats?

Its about what alexander said, matchups.

I think after listening to those people up there and reading fan stuff from them, they are very worried about the game.

and if there is doubt...that is good.

Yes, they are very worried about this game.

Kind of like some of the fans on this board were worried about how hot the Giants got in 2007.

They really really dislike their Left Tackle Bryant McKinnie.

They are also extremely nervous about Jason Witten.

These are meaningless stats. This team has changed...evolved...from what it was even midway through the season. How this team performed weeks ago doesn't matter, but if Vikings fans need this stuff to feel better, so be it.

You are wrong.

They beat the Giants. And Packers--TWICE. Can't you understand that means this game is their's? Nevermind their best CB gets 60% of passes completed on him. Nevermind they are starting a rookie at MLB. Nevermind their offensive left tackle has been a revolving door.

They beat the Giants. And Packers--TWICE. We lost to them three times and we are an overrated team that thinks they are America's Team and play in a palace and they play in the hood--oooooohhhhhhAHHHHHHHH

I think Dodger is correct, of all the NFL teams the Cowboys are the ones that really evolved in the shortest time. I think everyone, everyone had us pegged to lose and collapse in december and once we beat NO, this has been a better disciplined agressive defense that is smothering teams very quickly.

I dont know where the change came from and everyone can point fingers but no one can pinpoint the component that made this team better. You usually will see the change in a team over a course of a few games, but this team went from dead in december to OH MY GOD THEY BEAT NEW ORLEANS and than just went on a tear.

Either Garrett or Wade stomped the foot on the accelarator and this team is taking off.
