Doug Free was really bad in the Vikings game.

The local media, especially the people that work for the team just won't criticize some players. Free is at the top of this list.

The radio guys will hint at Free being bad and guys like Brad Sham, Bryan Broaddus and Mickey will come unglued and start making all kinds of excuses or just totally deny it.

On the flip side the media will dog on some players repeatedly.

I assume it is due to personal interactions with the players.

They hated RoMc the day he arrived. My guess is that he was disrespectful to them.

Free on the other hand must give them gifts daily.

They asked Brad about Free's terrible game and not only would he not acknowledge it, but he started saying that Free was almost as good as Tyron.

I find it bizarre.

Unfortunately many many fans take their cues from these media guys in terms of what they think about players. Then those fans come here and repeat the narrative.

Broaddus does his fair share of complaining about Doug Free, actually.

I know better than to stroll into this tarpit with you, but I do think that there's a schism between people who think you can win with players like Doug Free at RT and those who apparently think you cannot.

Free is one of the worst in the league according to Gil Brandt. This was posted before this last game.

Let me guess. We should have kept Parnell :)

Can someone post the picture of Free and the little fish he caught. This thread screams for that picture.

Free is like that DL who nearly everyone wanted cut. I forgot his name. The golden something. Year after year he kept on playing. He was finally released and went to Cleveland this year. I think he got cut.

NICK HAYDEN. The worst DT the world has ever seen. Only the Cowboys were dumb enough to employ him.

But then he got cut and didn't have much trouble getting signed elsewhere. Interesting...

Doug Free is the lynchpin of the OL. It is his veteran leadership and presence that allows the rest of the players on the line to shine the way that they do.

He may not be the best player on the OL. But he contributes in so many other ways.

Maybe you should consider that. Before kicking one of our veteran leaders to the curb in such a belittling manner. :(

The only thing that is bizarre here is the OP's 2 years-and-running-obsession with Doug Free. Give. It. Up. Doug Free is the worse player on the OL, any poster on this board knows that.

Despite that, as other have mentioned he brings the intangibles to the group that the coaches and team decision makers like. And as Broaddus and Mickey have also mentioned, it's not always about the negative plays that the OL make - you evaluate the whole body of work.

Free is great vs average players and terrible against the top pass rushers.

JPP is going to wreck our offense next week if they don't give Free a ton of help

You'd hardly know our OL was the centerpiece of the team, right?
lol. Its unreal. The absolute last thing anyone should be complaining about is the clubs OL. It is the best in the NFL and the foundation on which the clubs next , and soon, Superbowl Victory is built on.

The club is 11-1 with this useless stiff playing!!;)! lol. People will always need a whipping boy. Free has always been an underappreciated Cowboy..much like Terrence Williams at WO.

In all fairness to Free, and the rest of the winning team, he is a veteran player who just played 3 tough opponents in 11 days. He was shot by the end of tht game and was winded and exhausted going into the 3rd Quarter. Fair is fair. Some rotational help??

Exactly like Terrence. I'm all for upgrades, but what we got right now is working, too, so there's not a lot of point in being salty about it.
