Seems like if we want AP, we're going to have to wait deep into the summer to get him. I was hoping to have this resolved by the draft. :banghead:

The Minnesota Vikings will not release Adrian Peterson, the star running back's agent told FOX Sports 1 NFL Insider Mike Garafolo on Wednesday night, leaving Peterson's return to the team up in the air.
Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, said he was informed of the Vikings' decision by general manager Rick Spielman in a phone conversation Wednesday. Dogra then made the following statement to FOX Sports: "It was important for me to relay the position the Vikings are taking to Adrian. I want to make sure there is absolutely no confusion whatsoever."

Peterson, the 2012 NFL MVP, flew to New York on Monday and met with Vikings owners Mark and Zygi Wilf, who live in New Jersey. Spielman also was part of the meeting, which was confirmed Tuesday by the team.
Minnesota has said publicly it hopes to bring Peterson back next season after the franchise's all-time leading rusher missed all but one game last season while he tended to charges of injuring his 4-year-old son with a switch. Peterson was placed on the commissioner's exempt list in mid-September, then later suspended for the season on Nov. 18, two weeks after he reached a plea deal and pleaded no contest to a charge of misdemeanor reckless assault.

Peterson, in limited media exposure, has expressed uneasiness with the team because he feels he wasn't supported by some members of the organization while he went through his legal case.

Peterson would be great to have for this season but his contract is going to hamstring whatever club has him going forward.

I'm ok with that at QB, or edge rusher, or WR. Maybe even CB. But at RB? No. They're just too easy to find.

Now if he came cheaply, then sure, I'd love to see him behind this OL... but he won't. I don't want to mortgage even a little bit of the future for a RB. If I wanted to do that, I'd have wanted Dallas to re-sign Murray.

Sounds like they are just laying the ground work to do exactly that. I think it will be after the draft that they either trade or release him. I don't think Zimmer wants that distraction.

This part just jumps out at me, and gives me the distinct impression that battle lines are clearly being drawn.

They just don't want to pay him 15 million the next 3 years.

I expect Dogra and Peterson to take it to the next level and come out publicly and explain their side of the story, stating clearly that "Adrian Peterson no longer wants to play for the Minnesota Vikings".

I think any team that obviously forces a player to stay after that looks pretty bad.

And desperate.

Of course, they're in the process of trying to get a pick for him. We will see what happens.

I don't see him here no matter what now. PR is strained already, and I don't think they want a guy that killed a man drunk driving, a woman beater, AND a child beater on the same team.

This will be addressed in the draft.

I also think they're cooling on re-signing Rolando McClain now, too.

Will the Vikings refuse to let him attend the mandatory OTA, injury fear, and cut him when training camp starts?

At least everyone now knows that Peterson told them he doesn't want to play for them again. We all knew this anyway but now there I no doubts.

They want to get something for him. I can't blame them.

vikings are desperate to get something for him; and the fact that his most likely new team is the Boys probably just makes the cheese bind a little harder.

They will never forget how we raped and sodomized them in the HW deal.
And that that trade was a key part of our 3 SB wins.
