Vinatieri and CBA

I'm not sure if you guys know this yet but the Patriots have an offer on the table that would make Vinatieri the highest paid kicker in the NFL.

One of my good league sources told me a deal has pretty much been been finalized and they are just crossing the T's and dotting the I's. For those of you that may not know, Gene Upshaw is actually in the owners pocket and everything he does like walk out of meetings is done just for the drama. My source told me Upshaw and the players caved and the deal is done.

Remember, this is just what I was told but it comes from someone pretty reliable who I would say is right over 80% of the time.

Thanks for the heads up. Patriots would be silly to let Vinatieri go. All I can say is the 3 day delay better be worth it because we would be signing people today.

Highest paid kicker in the NFL, 2M per, hmmm.

He would be an idiot to not take that deal (unless the language in it makes it a bad deal).

If franchised he wouldnt make 2M per.

I'm not so sure about that, the Boston herald is reporting this morning, that Vinateri has not accepted the offer. In fact, they are stating the he want's to test the market. True, the offered him two mil a year, but he clearly state's in the article that he wants the market to decide his worth.

here is a link to the article.

It would appear that Doomsday's "source" is the Boston Herald. ;)

Wait, I never said he accepted the offer. I said the offer was on the table. He still wants to see what other teams (Dallas and Cleveland) have to say before he signs it. Just remember what I said before. Players aren't exactley all that happy with the Patriots. They have been getting away with not paying players for years and someone close to the team said that's not going to continue. Watch the Pats closely. They have a great coach and a great QB but it will be interesting to see if that's a team that starts to fall apart in the next couple of years.

They said they would fall apart last year and despite their OL being ripped up (worse than ours), they still rallied, won their division and made the playoffs.

TruBlue,
I knew that this info was made public today. I got it early this morning from someone. I don't read the Boston Herald but it doesn't surprise me that it's in there. Not everything I get is going to be weeks in advance. That's why I started the post off with..."You guys may already know this."

They have Tom Brady and play in one of the worst divisions in football. The Cowboys would have won the AFC East last year as well and they have Brady's backup. I just said to keep an eye on it. Sooner or later - Super Bowls or no Super Bowls - players are going to want to get paid.

And it all starts with the kicker baby! If ya can't take care of your kicker, then by god, who can you take care of?!

Well, trust me, you will that kind of feeback everytime you post something saying its inside info. Thats just the nature of it, but Trueblue is not one of troll type posters, but good one.

But the other one, long standing troll, who claims to be cowboys fan, but more likely NE fan, might not like that he/she has compition, who is really legit :D
