WR drafted in 4th round by Cleveland who released him. Boy that aweful early to give up such a high draft pick. From what I have read the issues are with dropping passes and that is area I don't know how fixable it is. But I like the value here and let him work with practice squad. A guy worth keeping eye on who has upside in case of injury or if Street takes step back.

I was interested in him, but most of the Browns fans comments were that he couldn't catch a cold.

He needs to get those magic WR gloves like ODB has that make it impossible to drop passes

He is also coming off a thumb injury. Still needs to make the jugs machine his best friend. Former basketball player so still learning the game.

I believe he had broken thumb for senior bowl?? maybe that was contributing somewhat.

Could be.

I just found it interesting that most Browns fans (and obviously the coaches) had no issues with letting him go.

Didn't we release a fourth round pick receiver the same year we picked up Bease? I forgot the name but not uncommon.

I recall a punt returner we drafted in the 4th round who apparently did nothing but eat from draft day to training camp -- Skyler Green. That was pretty sad.

Street may be in trouble

I agree. Mayle was known as Little Lebron when he played basketball. His playing weight was 240 which he trimmed to 225 to play WR. This kid has an amazing athletic ceiling.

Browns waived WR Vince Mayle.
A fourth-round rookie, Mayle was labeled one of the worst picks of May's draft, and quickly proved his detractors right by turning in an absolutely brutal preseason. A sub-par athlete, Mayle's hands are made of marble. It's a lethal combination for someone trying to play receiver at the highest level of football. The Browns are the worst team in the league at evaluating receiver talent. Sep 5 - 4:24 PM

He doesn't exactly sound....promising.

I expect he's a guy we had on our board which is why we are taking a look. But being a 4th rounder who gets cut ... that's a big strike against the guy already

Here is the summary of one of his draft profiles:

Bottom Line
Evaluators seem sure that Mayle is a moldable piece of clay who can become substantially better as a pro with more coaching and experience. Mayle clearly needs work with some of the basic fundamentals for the position, but with his size and an ability to win vertically, he has a high ceiling. He might need a redshirt year before he is ready to contribute consistently.

He is a really big, strong WR.
Dallas has had luck with those types of players.

He should be a monster in the blocking aspect day 1 and catching the football is a repetition thing.
