The San Diego Chargers have agreed to send an undisclosed draft pick to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for quarterback Billy Volek, ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting.

Volek

ESPN.com's John Clayton reported that the Chargers had offered a sixth-round choice; the Titans were asking for a fifth-rounder in exchange for Volek. The two teams had been discussing a trade for a couple weeks until both agreed to wait until after Sunday's matchup between the teams because the Titans didn't want to move Volek to a team they were playing two weeks into the season.

He was 3rd string at this point anyways, this shouldn't affect our game at all. What's the over/under for Cowboys interceptions this game against Collins/Young? 2.5?

Volek has got to be one ticked off person right now.

He wanted to be released this year so he could try and find a place where he could compete for a starting job. Then the Titans locked out McNair and told him he would be able to compete in TC for the starting spot. Then they drafted Young and signed Collins.

Now he gets shipped for a 5th or 6th rounder and he has NO chance at the starting spot unless Rivers gets hurt.

Honestly, the way the Titans organization is run is pretty crappy. I don't know why anyone would want to come here to Nashville to play.

And the sad thing is he was the best qb on their roster

This is what I don't get. I thought Volek was suppose to be good. Obviously not. But at least he knew their system.

What do they have now. Collins is toast. Young is obviously not ready yet.

Didn't he opt to stay with Tenn. when he had a chance to be a FA? If so, he has no one to blame for his predicament but himself, imo.

But I think the Titans front office has some definite problems.

Jeff Fisher could be the scapegoat ... maybe.

IIRC, there was a time that the Titan's front office was touted as being in the same league as the Eagles, Patriots, and Ravens, who have been called the best FOs in the league for a good amount of time

My how the mighty fall.

Kerry Collins is a Cowboy-killer. Don't know why he does so well against us.

The Titans are a perfect example of management running a good team into the ground.

Floyd Reese has lost it and Bud Adams is good for nothing but spite against Houston.

Reese's free-spending play now-pay later cap management resulted in one of the largest "blood-lettings" in the salary cap era.

Anyone remember how the Titans watched all of those talented players leave because Reese had them capped out?

I've never seen a team have to dump so may players due to poor cap management - not even the Commanders. For all of the criticism, the 'skins gambled correctly regarding the new CBA.

And this season, they made the ultimate mistake of letting McNair go - after their cap management made his cap number too high to bear.

The draft-day decision to take Young over Leinart was made out of spite, not football smarts. And overruling Fisher and Chow on the decision will cause both to leave after this season.

The Titans are "reaping what they've sewn" and will for the next several years.

The Titans treated Randall Godfrey and Steve McNair with no class. They asked Godfrey to re-structure his contract a few years to help save the team some money. Once he did, they cut him.

He did opt to stay based on the promise that he would be competing for the starting job. The talk around here was that he would start most games this year, show what he had, while the Titans groomed Young. But the addition of Collins kinda proved that they were in no way going to allow Volek to play.

It really makes no sense because the guy has some ability and could be a good QB in the right situation.

AT least Volek is going to a team with playoff possibilities. He can bide his time, without having to 'grin and bear it' for the team that hosed him.

It'd be nice if that eventually correlated with Bill's retirement. Fisher does have a good hard-nosed attitude.

That would be too good to be true.

I like Volek going to SD. Volek could've gone to the Commanders, and immediatey been the best QB there too.
