The Good: two wins in a row since...I don't know when.
*I've said it before, I'll say it again. Ratliff is a man that makes plays. I hear his name at least once a game doing something really good.
*Ware and Williams can hit really hard. That Ware sack really got into Manning's head. He saw it, called a protection, and still got whacked.
*The Snapalope commercial. I love stuff like that.
*Nice to see Burnett make a huge play. Wonder where Carpenter will be when he's had a couple of years to adjust?
*RW forgot to drop an interception and killed a great Indy drive. Kudos, Roy.
*Barber's violence is giving way to more patience around the goal line.
*How bad did JJones want that TD? He'd been bottled up most of the day, but was still running hard. I like that.
*Defense holding PM to 250 yards and 14 points without Ellis. Kudos, D.
*Romo 19 of 23 (83%) against a good pass rush.
*Next game in 4 days!!!
The Bad:
*How about some play action passes? The Colts were determined not to let the Cowboys run.
*McNabb is out. I don't wish injury on any player at any time.
*No way was Spears roughing the passer.
*No way is it worth it to have Newman returning punts.
*Perfect run blitz called on 3rd and 1. Missed tackle.
*A lot of Romo's passes looked wobbly. Is his finger really hurt?
The Ugly:
*Would somebody PLEASE take the ShotGun Draw out of the playbook?! I was watching the game eating a sandwich when they ran it. I absentmindedly said to myself "Wonder what they're gonna run now?" To my surprise my sandwich replied "I bet it's the Shotgun Draw", Sure enough, it was right which just proves my point that every cell on earth knows that plays coming.
*I wish this had been a road game so Parcells could have kicked Vandershank off the plane at 37,000 feet on the ride home. Jerry paid this guy how much money? Paging Steve Hoffman!!
*PENALTIES. Not so many, but they were big ones at inopportune moments.
*Tarik Glenn jumps and it's a penalty on Dallas?
*A safety getting beat for not one but two touchdowns. Is there anybody on the Cowboys staff that sees this as a glaring weakness????
*Cowboys with a 3rd and 9, run a 4 yard route. THINK!!!!!
On the NFLN: There were two commentators, I'll call them Big and Little because I don't know their names. I apologize. Little wanted to talk about Peyton Manning, but Big said "How about a little love for Romo? Don't you think we should be talking about the guy that won?" Little mockingly said "Yeah, he won but it's only his fourth start" to which Big replied "Yeah, and in his 4th start he defeated the Mighty Peyton Manning, Captain Regular Season!"
Big also said that TO looked, in his press conference, like somebody on his way to rob a 7-11. "Everybody I see dressed like that is on their way to jail". He also pointed out that the NFCEast is free now, all other teams are decimated.
I used to watch ESPN for the postgame, but not anymore. The guys on NFLN were much more entertaining.
The Bottom Line:
I've been critical of Parcells game plans in the past, but this one worked nearly to perfection. PM got rattled early and started hearing footsteps that weren't really there. Attacking when the game was tied instead of playing not to lose. Congratulations all around. Here's hoping they don't read too many press clippings and take the Bucs lightly on a short week!
