The Good: two wins in a row since...I don't know when.
*I've said it before, I'll say it again. Ratliff is a man that makes plays. I hear his name at least once a game doing something really good.
*Ware and Williams can hit really hard. That Ware sack really got into Manning's head. He saw it, called a protection, and still got whacked.
*The Snapalope commercial. I love stuff like that.
*Nice to see Burnett make a huge play. Wonder where Carpenter will be when he's had a couple of years to adjust?
*RW forgot to drop an interception and killed a great Indy drive. Kudos, Roy.
*Barber's violence is giving way to more patience around the goal line.
*How bad did JJones want that TD? He'd been bottled up most of the day, but was still running hard. I like that.
*Defense holding PM to 250 yards and 14 points without Ellis. Kudos, D.
*Romo 19 of 23 (83%) against a good pass rush.
*Next game in 4 days!!!

The Bad:
*How about some play action passes? The Colts were determined not to let the Cowboys run.
*McNabb is out. I don't wish injury on any player at any time.
*No way was Spears roughing the passer.
*No way is it worth it to have Newman returning punts.
*Perfect run blitz called on 3rd and 1. Missed tackle.
*A lot of Romo's passes looked wobbly. Is his finger really hurt?

The Ugly:
*Would somebody PLEASE take the ShotGun Draw out of the playbook?! I was watching the game eating a sandwich when they ran it. I absentmindedly said to myself "Wonder what they're gonna run now?" To my surprise my sandwich replied "I bet it's the Shotgun Draw", Sure enough, it was right which just proves my point that every cell on earth knows that plays coming.
*I wish this had been a road game so Parcells could have kicked Vandershank off the plane at 37,000 feet on the ride home. Jerry paid this guy how much money? Paging Steve Hoffman!!
*PENALTIES. Not so many, but they were big ones at inopportune moments.
*Tarik Glenn jumps and it's a penalty on Dallas?
*A safety getting beat for not one but two touchdowns. Is there anybody on the Cowboys staff that sees this as a glaring weakness????
*Cowboys with a 3rd and 9, run a 4 yard route. THINK!!!!!

On the NFLN: There were two commentators, I'll call them Big and Little because I don't know their names. I apologize. Little wanted to talk about Peyton Manning, but Big said "How about a little love for Romo? Don't you think we should be talking about the guy that won?" Little mockingly said "Yeah, he won but it's only his fourth start" to which Big replied "Yeah, and in his 4th start he defeated the Mighty Peyton Manning, Captain Regular Season!"

Big also said that TO looked, in his press conference, like somebody on his way to rob a 7-11. "Everybody I see dressed like that is on their way to jail". He also pointed out that the NFCEast is free now, all other teams are decimated.

I used to watch ESPN for the postgame, but not anymore. The guys on NFLN were much more entertaining.

The Bottom Line:
I've been critical of Parcells game plans in the past, but this one worked nearly to perfection. PM got rattled early and started hearing footsteps that weren't really there. Attacking when the game was tied instead of playing not to lose. Congratulations all around. Here's hoping they don't read too many press clippings and take the Bucs lightly on a short week!

I appreciate it. I don't like to get caught up in arguments, more of an observation kind of guy myself.

I will say that prior to this game I was afraid Indy was going to destroy the Cowboys. I'm very happy to have been wrong.

Marshall Faulk will still say the Cowboys have no shot to win Thursday, like it's a given, and anyone who asks who will win is ******** or something.

The Big Guy is Jamie Dukes. He used to play OL for the Falcons.
He's also a commentator for Comcast Sports South.

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of TD's in the NFL are caused by a safety being beat.

Great post. Informative and entertaining.

Btw, Little might have responded to Big that TO was dressing for a Bucs mugging on Turkey Day.

Thanks, he sounded like a player. I justl ike how he steered the conversation to the Cowboys and showed them some love. That would have never happened at BSPN.

By the way, I'd like to offer my thanks to whoever ranks the posts. I appreciate knowing people like my brain-droppings. Thanks again!

Was the first TD really a safeties fault? It looked like confusion on Henry and Newman. Was Keith Davis supposed to be there? It looked like he rolled immediately to his left to help deep on Roy's side.

On the second TD, Roy or any safety is going to have a difficult time covering that much space. Like Phil Simms said it is easier to cover that route by pressing the receiver. Roy was back because the coverage was disguised to look like Ware had underneath responsiblities. Ware blitzed and Roy took the short, quick inside route away. The pressure did not get to Manning and Clark had time to go to the outside where there was plenty of room to get open. I great coverage strong safety may be able to cover that route, but a decent one like Roy will have trouble staying with the tight end.

Safety pass coverage hasn't been answered 100%, but I just don't think they were the glaring weakness today or on those two TDs. Good plays by Indy, which they do to a lot of teams.

I can't agree more on the call against Spears. I don't know what a defender is supposed to do if they are going to make calls like that.

Fowler is becoming a special teams demon on kick off coverage.

both td's were not safty faults.. the one was.. roy was 1 on 1. The other one.. not sure how you blame the safety when both corners on that side, take the same guy and let the other one run free. It was a blown coverage but not by a safety.

I would have thought the same thing, but it was obvious he wasn't being serious. He was commenting on how the Cowboys need to dress like winners now that they're coming into their own. I don't think he made the comment in a mean-spirited manner at all.

I agree with this. I thought the safety play today was pretty good actually. that second one was a terrific play call by Indy to isolate Williams in an impossible position (without guessing early).

Good stuff though, Dr. Hefley

I may be coming down too hard on the safeties, but I can't get past those two Commander touchdowns last year. Every time somebody scores, I automatically look to see how far away the safeties are!

Yeah Newman's injury really had me down as I was sitting on my couch, I can't believe the Cowboys risks his awesome coverage abilities on punt returns, that's why it would have been nice to draft a Devon Hester because dude from LSU whom I can't name at this moment was not the answer.....
