im just trying to help the cowboys win, i think my record speaks for itself in getting teams to win;

monkey on your back to get to playoffs and win a playoff game or two question to wade, yeah well, lets just win the green bay game right now;

you preach to the players to win those type of games, believe in each other and be accountable to each other, were playing well and believing in each other i think as the coach

reid had 3 decsions, when you lose its the wrong one, it wasnt my football team and wasnt my decision at that time, i dont have a feel for his team, etc on 3rd and 11, like he felt they could kick the fg and they did; its his decision

when you jumped on the sidelines etc, ok i like that, your selling to the team you can win, so wade said i liked that to the reporter comments

they have a good rb and been running the ball really well, stop grant early and put pressure on the passer, adn their qb one of highest rated qb in the league nad keep them from makimng big plays with their elite wrs

we got down their with 22 seconds at that time and you couldnt run anything down there with that much time left, we wanted to have 3 plays to try to score, and we wanted 3 plays to try to score, if you run yoiu take away about 12 seconds

lets go for 7 and 2,, when reporter said dont let me down i think you will win, so wade said lets for for 7 and 2

biggest surprise for wade was miles austin, biggest dissapointment was the 2 losses and biggest worry is the green bay game

its kinda like in his press conference when he was asked about the team losing in december and how he was going to correct that etc;

wade said he didnt like to talk about that, this is a new team and new year; let the games play out and then see, something like that

:star: I believe his record in general speaks for itself in getting teams to win, with winning seasons come play off wins. :star:

Wade has been telling this team one game at a time, he is not thinking Dec or post season he is thinking GB and that is what this team needs to be thinking nothing more than GB. When Dec comes they will deal with that.

Can't win much in January or February without some wins in Oct and Nov... that much is a fact.

Can't argue that. Without the Sept., Oct., and Nov. wins December and January just become something you have to do to finish out a season.

Thanks Joe.

Didn't the host mention something about the way Wade behaves in the locker room is far different from the way he is portrayed in the media?

News and views from Wednesday's conference

November 11, 2009, 6:34 PM

By: Calvin Watkins

IRVING, Texas -- Here's the news and views from Wade Phillips' news conference Wednesday:

Phillips said Pro Bowl center Andre Gurode (ankle) and free safety Ken Hamlin missed practice, and if a game were to take place Wednesday, they would both miss it. He does feel better about their statuses for Sunday at Green Bay.

The team is working out Kevin Ogletree and Tashard Choice on kickoffs. Phillips said the team is still confident in Felix Jones as the No. 1 on the depth chart, but he fumbled a kickoff Sunday. Phillips would like to get other players reps at that position in case something happens to Jones.

This week, the Cowboys face another 3-4 defense in Dom Capers' Green Bay Packers. Phillips was asked about the differences in how each defense is run. "Whatever defense people are playing they're all different," he said. "There are different ways to run a 4-3 or 3-4, some similarities, certainly, but it depends on the players you have and what you're playing with them. We're playing quite a few different things and we have different philosophies in some areas as far as techniques and those types of things."

The biggest difference seems to be the top pass rushers. The Cowboys have DeMarcus Ware and the Packers have Aaron Kampman, who is questionable this week because of complications from a concussion. Kampman has 2½ sacks and 51 total tackles. Ware has five sacks and 53 total tackles. Also, the Packers have two veteran cornerbacks who like to play man-to-man in Al Harris and Charles Woodson, while the Cowboys have second-year cornerback Mike Jenkins and veteran Terence Newman starting. Those two play a variation of man and zone.

Running back Felix Jones carried only four times for 10 yards Sunday at Philadelphia, with his longest run going for four yards. It appeared Jones was tentative as he tried to hit the holes. He missed two games with a sprained ligament in his knee and just last week practiced without a brace. It's possible he will play Sunday at Green Bay without the brace for the first time since suffering the injury Sept. 28.

"I don't think he was tentative," Phillips said. "I think he looks healthy to me and probably more healthy for this game."

The man who was asked to take over for Greg Ellis at outside linebacker, Anthony Spencer, is without a sack as the team enters its ninth game. Spencer has four tackles for loss and is tied for second on the team with 16 quarterback pressures.

"He's doing what he's doing," Phillips said regarding Spencer, who almost had a sack Sunday night against the Eagles. "I think all [pass rushers] get frustrated when they don't get them, but he's doing what he can do and I think he's doing it well."

Phillips praised Spencer's work against the run and how he's helping other players get a sack. Spencer's inside rush against the Eagles opened the door for nose tackle Jay Ratliff to record his fourth sack of the season.
