I was listening to Wade Phillips' Press Conference yesterday and I was intrigued about his comments about acquiring Keith Brooking and what Keith Brooking is like in practice.

In the Press Conference, Wade Phillips said that he liked Keith Brooking's leadership skills but wasn't sure how the players in the Cowboys locker room would view him as far as a leader, considering it was his first year.

Wade Phillips said the main reason players started rallying around Keith Brooking is because of how hard he works. Wade Philliips said that Keith Brooking is relentless and not only does he try to beat everyone in drills, but he does the drills the hardest way possible.

Folks, remember what people inside and around the Cowboys use to say about Michael Irvin. Lesser players would pick up their game and work a lot harder because they looked over and saw one of the best players working his rear end off and refused to accept failure.

I think Keith Brooking is having the same effect on the Dallas Cowboys. Not only is he one of the better players on the team, but the guy is intense and other players on the team are almost forced to match his intensity.

I will never forget the report that said Keith Brooking was mad upset about the lack of intensity in practice and was thinking about picking a fight with someone to get everyone to match his intensity.

This guy has been huge for this team.

been here one year and players fear him and want to win for him-closest thing to Randy-White intensity we've had in a while--thank you Atlanta

Now this is my kind of player. This is first time I have heard about Brooking wanting to pick a fight but I love it!

Yeah...Brooking has been SOOOOOO much more than just a great player for us...He has been an inspiration to our entire team!

We are very lucky Atlanta let him walk...I wonder how many more years he will play?

Brooking did what you have to do he earned the players respect once you do that then what you say matters but you don't walk in and get respect you earn it.

he is everything I thought Zach Thomas would be.

On the nosey.

When Thomas came on board, I felt it was similar to what happened with the Cowboy teams of the late 60's who couldn't win the big game...and then guys like Herb Adderly, Lance Alworth, Mike Ditka, Lee Roy Caffey were brought in from other teams...and that made a huge difference.

It also didn't hurt that Landry finally chose Staubach as his QB.

But I think the veteran leadership made a big difference

It feels the same way with Brooking.

True, but the locker room atmosphere when Zach Thomas was here was a lot worse.

Zach did nothing to make it better either.

Again, the locker room last year was a cesspool.

Players were publicly criticizing coaches and players.

Also, there were several allegations that the locker room was divided upon racial lines.

I don't think Keith Brooking would have had the same effect if he would have been around last year.

Keith Brooking would not be 'Keith Brooking' if guys like Tank Johnson, Pacman Jones and Terrell Owens were still part of this team.

Nobody is willing to pick up Pacman. Tank, no team cares about and T.O would be taking a big pay decrease to play at whatever other team was willing to take him, if there is still one out there.

Keither Brooking would still be himself but his overall locker room affect would be totally watered down with those guys around.

I look at Roy E Williams when he first got here and the guy was the happiest player in the NFL to be here. After a few weeks of knowing T.O the guy has been tarnished for a full season afterwards. Being in the playoffs is starting to fire him up again and hopefully will translate as the team goes on.

I agree.

I didn't mean to say that Keith Brooking would be different but his impact on this team wouldn't have been the same.

And Zack added to it, Zack did not leave under good terms. Fact is Zack was not good in the 3-4 and really did not have much in the tank. How would Brookings fair on last years team hard to say but I do think you gain respect by what you are doing not what you say. Brooking came in working his tail off not acting like a guy looking for one last payday and earned the respect of his teammates.
