Wade needs to go...

don't get all warm and fuzzy about beating the Giants

we beat them 2 times last year and took a big dump on the field in the playoffs..

Wade still needs fired

BP picked the core of the defense. However, Wade has got them to play at a different level. BP's defense was giving up 30 ppg at the end of his reign.

Why shouldn't we be all warm and fuzzy about beating:

A divison rival
One of the best offenses in the NFL
One of the best ground attacks in the NFL

Are you one of those The glass is always half empty kind of guys???

This defense is terrific, and he built it. We will have more youth in the line up next year and I think we will be better off for it. This is becoming a top unit in the league, almost as dominant as Pittsburgh or Baltimore's, easily as good as NYG's or Minnesota's. The D is playing unconscious football right now and that is ALL Wade. OUTSTANDING JOB!

You got that right.

You know, pessimism sucks, especially after a win.

Stewart needs to go, Garrett deserves a junior year prove his sophomore slump was simply a learning curve.

I'd pluck a Pittsburgh assistant for the DC job.

Im sorry for not being a prisoner of the moment like most on here, but if Holmgren or Cowher(more than likely not) are available, I want them here.

I don't even think it has really been a slump - he has just been hamstrung by the play at OLG.

Holmgren is burned out buddy, like Jimmy with the Dolphins and Parcells in 2006, they just don't have the stamina any longer.

Cowher is a long shot as he seems to enjoy retirement.

Burned out how? He got his team into the SB a few seasons ago and was screwed out of his 2nd Lombardi by the zebras and the only reason the Seahawks were trash now was cause of injuries. Give him a few months off and he'll be ready to come back swinging.

He voluntarily announced he was stepping down before the season started and is now going out on a passionless losing campaign, he is done my friend and he has decided as much on his own.

I have been a staunch Wade basher, but I agree. The job he's doing with this defense has been fantastic. I truly feel like I'm watching a Ravens/Steelers game when I watch our D on the field.

It's the other side of the ball, where the supposedly self-sustaining Jason Garrett continues to underwhelm.

Seriously -- no matter your thoughts on the Roy trade, it's amazing we can't get that man involved.

A prisoner of the moment? This defensive resurgence has been going on for nearly two full months.

Flip on some film from weeks 1 through 5 and compare it to this. The defense is worlds apart.

Now, I'll agree, I still question Wade's ability to win us a playoff game. And, yes, Cowher seems tempting (Pfft on Holmgren. Dude seems ready to move on to something else in life).

But one thing I've always maintained about this team's ability to win playoff games is I think it's going to come down to the players. Meaning, Parcells couldn't win us one, Phillips hasn't (in one try) and I don't think Cowher would just step in and win one on his name/motivation alone. It's going to come down to the players on this team learning how to finish, how to win, etc. If Parcells couldn't instill it, I'm not buying that Cowher -- a man who has what kind of record again in conference championship games? -- would.

Wade saved his job tonight, one of the best defensive performances in years around here.

I am willing to give Wade another year AS LONG AS HE CALLS THE DEFENSIVE STARTING IN WEEK 1 !!!!!!

I never said I didnt want Wade to stay. I just dont want him to stay as a HC. Defensive Coordinator will do just fine.

And last time I checked, a guy who actually has won playoff games ans a SB>>>>>>Donut and 4 in the post season.

He's already said this wont be his last season as a coach. Just his last season as a coach of the Seahawks. They gave him the Favre treatment and he reacted the same way, prematurely. He's had a change of heart.

Wade still deservres to be fired for soft Head coach!

If we lose our 1st playoff game, y'all will jump back on the fire wade phillips bandwagon.

I promise you. If he's not HC here, he sure as hell isn't going to be DC here.

As it should be, really.

The season is 16 games long -- longer, if we're fortunate. Everything said until the season over is an in-the-moment sentiment that will surely fluctuate a few times until it's all over.

Wade's doing a hell of a job right now and deserves to be applauded for it. As I sit right now, Wade's earning my trust that he should return next year. But the season is not over, and a lot can change. Tank the next two games, or disappear in the first round of the playoffs and, sure, my thoughts probably will change.

But for the last, oh, seven games, I think he's done a fine job. He's got a full-fledged circus surrounding him right now and somehow is keeping this thing afloat. That, alone, is much more than I ever thought he could do.

I call BS.
The same reasons that Wade needed to go before the defensive resurgence remains. He does NOT have control of this team (and before someone mentions Jerrah- it does not matter=the coach still needs to be able to run the team and wade just does not have it in him to do a really good job there)
We won a SB while Switzer was the coach- and Wade is pretty much a copy.
And frankly this is NOT as good as the one that won in 95. I really doubt the ability of us to win a ring while Wade is coach.
He does not discipline this team as it needs to be (while a couple of the penalties tonight were wrong, mostof them were not).

And this remains my one fear with Wade. But I'm going to play devil's advocate on this issue, as I've done in the past here.

Do we really need more turnover? And is a different "voice" as the head coach going to suddenly instill a winning environment?

I call BS on the latter.

Somehow, we couldn't win in the playoffs with Parcells. We didn't win last year with Phillips. But the players remain the same. Color me skeptical that Cowher can magically change that.

And as far as coaching turnover goes, I'm just not convinced we need to be bringing in a whole new staff. We have some players who are becoming grizzled vets, and any established coach isn't going to want to come in and inherit Garrett, Campo, Houck and all those others.

Is keeping Wade the right answer? Dunno. We'll know more in a few weeks. I'm just not buying the quick-fix idea that so many think replacing him will give us. I've heard it all before.
