It's about time this comes out. I'm sure some will blame his lax worth ethic on Wade Phillips. But you know, you never hear about Wade's cupcake attitude having an effect on Owens. This is what makes great players great and mediocre players replaceable.

Yup

before he broke his hand he had 3 fumbles in 5 games ...... after his break he had 10 in 8 games.

Before his injuries started he had an average 103.8 QB rating

After he had a 82.9 QB rating.

His injuries caused his worsening play ........ period.

I think so, too. It seems likely. Injuries or not, the fumbles in the backfield have to be addressed--both with the OL and with Romo--but that problem has nothing to do with unnamed players reporting that Romo threw too many picks in practice.

B.S.... Prior to the play-offs, the papers were raving how serious Romo and TO were in practice... They also use to rave about how accurate Romo was in practice... And the fact that the team exemplified happiness when Rom returned, is more than enough proof this article is BS... Like I said, nobody forced Garrett not to run the ball. If you want to reign in Romo, as Wade even implied in his PC, you got to establish the run. Wade mentioned this all throughout the season, especially in his final PC.

I'm a bit skeptical of this point about Romo. It doesn't say he was lazy, or didn't try in practice, or didn't care. Wade has said many times that Romo is such a competitor, he treats practice like a game.

This piece just talks about "practice habits", which could mean the old bit about "forcing it to Witten too much". Surely people remember that from the original Werder story?

So I wouldn't be surprised if the five sources on this are all WRs. Or people listening to the WRs.

I remember during TC when they were talking about how all offseason Romo has been working on throwing from different arm angles was his primary focus, I was scratching my head.

His inconsistent accuracy and decision making was his biggest flaw and it continues to be.

For all intents and purposes, Wade Phillips has been neutered from day one. He has never been able to put his name on anything. Jerry Jones installed Jason Garrett with the title of head coach of the future and allowed him to run with the offensive side of the football. We have co-head coaches. On offense, one defense, just like Jones wanted many years ago after Switzer left.

To constantly blame him for the lack of discipline is simply misguided. Everyone knew he would not be a whip cracker. That's why he's sincere when he says he is not going to change. There is no reason to.

And why is it that we don't hear about sloppy practices and loafing from defensive players?

THIS. You state your opinion:

For all intents and purposes, Wade Phillips has been neutered from day one.

Then pass it off on a bunch of half truths, innuendos and fabricatiosn.

Bravo.

Care to enlighten everyone how Wade Phillips is allowed to run this team as he sees fit? Did he get to choose his offensive coordinator? No? How about getting his offensive line coach? No, he was overruled there too. How about something even as ridiculously small as how much he can fine players? No?

Funny also, how all season, reporters use to talk about how hard-workign Romo was, and how he spent all off-season and TC trying to mimic Brady by standing tall in the pocket... I wonder why he was doing that? Really, the media's inconsistency is a joke...

THANK YOU, EXCELLENT POINTS!!!

Jerry Jones has created his own mismanaged bunch. I read in the same article that this thread initially referenced, that players were tardy to meetings/practice and that Wade wanted ot up the fines from the current level of $100 (before Wade, Parcells' fines were $5,000, by the way, and Jones lowered them to $100). And as stated, Wade Philllips wanted them raised but Jones said no.

SO...how it it Wade's fault that discipline is not instilled when the owner thwarts his attempts to discipline?

Bottom line, when JONES mandated that phillips take direct control of the play callingm the defense improved. What did Garrett and Wislon do take more direct measures with the offense? Have a meeting with the WRs, only to see the offensive slide fuurther after that? I believe Jones was ultiamtely behind those meetings being called. The offensive coaches just failed to deliver.

Sorry bucko, thats not the way it works. You make the claim you back it up.

As for the entire Houck thing was never anything definitive how that all worked out. people like you are sure happy to fill int he gaps for us but who was the coach that was talking about how he wanted a family like atmosphere where the coaches weren't going to have to be all over the players and that the players themselves were going to hold each other accountable?

You seem so ready to lay that all at Jone's feet but its so obvious that was what Wade wanted. Oh but Wade was emasculated. Whatever dude. Like i said its fearmongering.

Jones needs to fire Wade becasue what he was doing didn't work and won't work but dear lord.

Amazing how some on here don't think the HEAD COACH is responsible for the way his team practices/plays...:( As a supervisor, I wish I had such autonomy & weren't held accountable for those who worked beneath me! If that's the case Wade should be up for an extension!

How can you put it on Wade directly? He's thr head coach whose expertise is Defense. His job is to tell his two most knowledgable employees on the QB position to "fix" it, or be replaced. Those twp would be Jason "Red" Garrett -- a former NFL QB, QB coach, and current Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach -- and Wade Wilson -- the Cowbys long-standing QB Coach and former NFL QB.

Sorry, but those titles mean something. These are two most knowlefdgable men at the QB position. It is THEIR job to reign in and develop Tony Romo. It's not Wade's job; Wade's job is to sed to it that they get it done, and if they can't, then replace them with someone who can. But even that is not Wade's job because Owner Jeery Jones is calling all of those shots.

So there's no way you can blame for this - sorry! It all falls on Garrett and Wilso, and if they aren't getting done then it falls on owner Jones. Now if you want to talk about who's responsible for miscues on defense, then we can talk Wade, but let's not unfairly drag him into the offense's mess. REALLY!

I totally agree. It's Garretts and Wilsons job to have the Offense prepared and have a game plan ready. Garrett and Wilson need to clamp down on Romo.
Maybe Jessica's airheadedness is rubbing off!:D

Was Wade Wilson even coaching Romo this past season? Our offensive coaches are completely inept.
