Like the obsessive fans we are we've discussed life under Wade versus under Parcells from the day Wade was hired. Okay... interviewed.
But I think pause after 3 games really sharpens the focus.
Think about how Newman's and a handful of our other injuries have been handled? Would Parcells have displayed the patience Wade has? Even if Newman had sat, would there be grousing about it by BP, a surly attitude that snapped I don't want to talk about it? Would there be a certain tension around the team over this injury?
Think about the rookies. Reports are that Spencer is now starting to play on instinct, not fearing mistakes. Under BP, I wonder if Spencer might still be stuck being hesitant. How about Folk. It seems Wade is totally unaware that Folk is a rookie and just walked confidently with the guy. Would BP have done so? Or would he have cautioned us repeatedly about how we don't know what we have at kicker just yet, need to protect him etc?
How about Reeves? I suspect A.Glenn would have been retained and gotten most of those Reeves reps or even Newman hobbling through it. I think this experience has been very good for Reeves. Not that I think he's all-world, just that he is getting a chance to play with some confidence and maximize what he does have to offer.
How about the offense as a whole? With the defense nicked up and still trying to find its legs would the offense have been allowed to try to win the day for us? Or would it have been asked to ratchet down the risk so as not to put the D in a precarious spot?
I'm really not ripping on Parcells. I believe he did some very good things for this organization. He certainly wasn't perfect though.
I certainly like what I see of this team, and Wade's handling of it, in the early going. I'm very tempted to conclude that Wade has done better than BP would have in these same circumstances. Who knows? I can certainly say I have no regrets at this point with Wade at the helm. Sometimes it seems like the differences are striking and very visible in just 3 games.
