How great would this draft be is this a realistic possibility? That would allow us to spend the 4th likely on the highest rb/wr on our board. I prefer Warmack but I think this would be one of the best drafts possible, thoughts???

Don't we need a FS-type rather than a SS like Reid? I have more faith in Church than in Johnson.

yeah, at least we've seen Church play some NFL downs.

However, it would not surprise me if Johnson ends up being a keeper.

I agree, FS seems to be the great need. I do think they like the young CB that we got off the waiver wire from new England as a possible FS.

I personally think Reid could play either spot, and if you look at his combine numbers physically he should be able to play FS easily. Having a player with that versatility when our current safeties are very injury prone could be a big asset.

I've been looking at Reid more closely in the last week. I thought I had a handle on him--and thought he was a bit overrated. Now, with so many putting him in the very late 2nd round, I actually like him better.

And yes, I now do think he could play either spot without problem.
Depending totally on who is on the baord still at 47, I would not complain too much if we took him there.
My preference is still to get big uglies the 1st two rounds though, assuming the right players are on the baord.

I disagree Guards always fall. Someone will reach for a QB or skill position player.

Could be. But generally positions like guard lose value come draft day while QB's gain value on draft day. I think some of that has changed a bit over the years. But, now we have to consider that with the rookie salary cap it is entirely more reasonable to take a chance at a position like QB, RB or WR because if the player doesn't pan out it doesn't kill your cap. That being said, teams didn't act that way in last year's first round of the draft.

So...who knows?

I tend to think we are going guard in the first round if we can.

I don't think Garrett and Co. were happy with either Livings or Bernardeau and I think the team is looking to give Romo some help given his recent extension. And if we are legitimately interested in Bell out of Michigan State, that would seem to make sense that we would look at guard in the draft to give our running game some holes to run through.

The organization seems to have a real liking towards Church and Johnson at safety. Plus, if you look at Kiffin's defenses; they never made big FA signings or draft picks at safety. Instead, they would go after safeties in the 4th or 5th round (Tanard Jackson, Jermaine Phillips, Dexter Jackson) and turn them into productive players. The only player they went after at safety higher in the draft was Sabby Piscatelli; who didn't work out. That makes me think Kiffin is more averse to taking a safety high in the drraft.
