I felt he was like a Derrick Thomas, where one game would be huge, getting a butt-load of sacks and then for stretches he'd simply be handled one-on-one, especially the last few years of his career.

khiladi agree. I live in Missouri and saw DT in the day. He was so inconsistent at times.

I think his neck issues which lingered especially affected his game. A lot of times Ware ran himself out the play and anybody with neck stingers understands how that affects your ability to turn your head, move your arms and shift leverage where you need to go.

Is it possible that sacks are an overrated stat in football? I would venture to say yes. It's certainly not a direct reflection on how a defensive player impacted a game.

I didn't notice Ware doing anything spectacular. Seemd he wasn't getting a push, or running by OL like he used too. But I wasn't specifically watching him on evey play.
I wish him well though, still a Cowboy...as Al michaels said, Ware would not even listen to offers from any NFC East teams, as he could not do that against the Cowboys.

I hardly noticed him today besides that one sack. Meh.

They were blocking him one on one a majority of the snaps and all he did was speed rush and get pushed outside. Offenses no longer have to worry about him scheme wise. He got his 1.5 sacks but was hardly a force in the game.
His entire career in a nutshell. Great player but has never been the force that some folks want to believe.

I didn't see him do much in the game, but was getting chipped by backs and receivers. Thought I saw the trainers already working on him a few times. I saw nothing to make me think he is going to be a dominant force, but apparently I missed his whole sack only saw the 1/2 sack

I saw him. A bee-line to Luck and he could've creamed him..............pulled up. Warm and fuzzy Ware. He was serviceable.

And no, it's not because I'm butt hurt he plays for another team. I encourage that.

I saw him blatantly held a couple of times and just like when he was in Dallas the officials did not throw a flag. He draws the least amount of flags of any premier pass rusher I have ever seen. I've never understood why.

He's an average player at best this year. They were blocking him one on one a majority of the snaps and all he did was speed rush and get pushed outside. Offenses no longer have to worry about him scheme wise. He got his 1.5 sacks but was hardly a force in the game. This won't be popular around here, but I always felt he was overrated. Great guy and good player for his career in Big D, but I never really bought into the hype.

I'd take him back in a heartbeat. I will take any and all sacks we can get, even the overrated and average ones because sacks will be hard to come by this season. We took sacks for granted with Ware on this team, grading each one instead of appreciating each one. Players like Ware do not come along very often.

Even if he gets 10 sacks, it wasn't worth the 16m cap hit. That's like one sack every other game and he doesn't do much of anything else to warrant that type of money. Also he has started strong before to end up almost invisible by the end of the year.

Cowboys offense is talented enough to be championship caliber, if they can rein in their turnovers. Cowboys D is nowhere near that level. 10 sacks from ONE player would have improved this defense to above average instead of bottom of the league. That variance is enough to keep the Cowboys out of the playoffs. And $16M is not your money so why covet it? I want to see my team win, be competitive every season, Ware would have helped. There is no argument that he would have improved this team. I would have loved to have his 1.5 sacks to add to Carter's ONE sack last Sunday. That could have swung the momentum who knows, you don't know, I don't know.
