...yes, I know he's young, etc., but he was dominated all night by an above-average OT in Samuels and he is showing no ability to seperate from the blocker once he is engaged.

As someone else mentioned, he is looking a lot like Kavika Pittman and not so much like LT. I hope he turns it up as his experience increases!

The sky fell last night.....

How many Rookies do we have again? How many times has Bill mentioned what effect that this could have?

Relax. Breath.

Are you suggesting we should cut our losses now?

He was burned on the inside in game 1... he did an excellent job of adjusting that and containing the outside last night...

One game at a time... let him develop...

True they have lots to learn and of course there will be growing pains, but do you really think Spears and Canty have been just average so far? Spears and Canty for the most part excelled last night against a pretty good offensive line. To say they have been just average is unfair.

I actually thought he looked very good last night. Caused two holding penalties and a false start. Also got good penetration on 2 plays that led to sacks from other players. Played the run well, was decent in coverage. I've said this from the beginning, he'll need to get more strength to dominate.

I was much happier with his performance last night compared to the SD game.

I wasn't buying all of the Canty hype in preseason, but he's been very good so far. Spears was very good last night but was only average against SD.

I thought Ware was good last night, inconsistent against SD.

I agree, I do think Ware had a tough night last night but felt Spears and Canty did a pretty good job. I'm excited about the prospect of having these young player on the team for a while. We may have lost last night but I feel good about our future.

I'm sorry, maybe it's over-reaction, but since camp we've been hearing that he is stopped dead in his tracks once the OL engages him and I've seen nothing to indicate to me he is learning to use his hands to avoid it or he is improving in that area.

To me, that ability is inate. Some guys are natural pass-rushers, (such as LT, Haley, Freeney, etc.) Ware is simply not showing natural pass rush skills such as disengaging from the OL so far, despite his early hype. Not saying he's a bust because he is a good, natural athlete. But the early training camp hype is beginning to look eerily similar to a lot of other TC hype over the years.

Flame if you wish!

He needs time... rookie playing with rookies in a new defensive scheme...

I'm glad we didn't give up on Aikman after game 2 of his career...

Just be patient CA...

All you fantasy freaks think someone stinks unless they rack up sacks. Watch the game. Ware got a lot of attention from the O-line and did pretty well.

Ware has a Haley-esque first step. He literally shoots out of his stance. He needs to learn from Haley some of his moves and not just consistently bull rush which he seems to do, and just get nasty like him when its game time. Be a nice guy outside of the field, not on it.

I don't think it's patience as far as the pass rush. That is what we need to see him develop his over-all game as a 3-4 LBer. But pass rush skill is innate.

Look at Freeney in Indy. He hit the ground running his rookie year because he has it. He actually abused Ogden from Baltimore, because he's a natural pass rusher. Ware doesn't show, so far, the ability to get past the big OL who lock in on him. That is concerning to me, because I don't see how experience will improve that aspect of his game.

they got him away from Samuels last night and he did pretty good getting to the qb. The coaches could have done that more often on passing downs.

Go back over the game and look who's side they were rolling away from the whole game. A large part of the sacks we had were a result of pressure created by Ware. He may not have gotten a sack recorded on the stat sheet but he sure as heck contributed on defense.

No one even thought Canty would be on the field at this point. The fact he's getting a sack says alot for him.

Spears is playing defensive end in the 3-4 defense. Defensive ends are not known for getting very many sacks in this defense. It's built to confuse the offense line by being able to send a different combination of linebackers through the gaps that the defensive line creates.

Personal statistics won't show the actual effect a player has on this defense.

I noticed on one play when He was trying to get around Samuels that as he was going by Samuels was holding wares Jersey...do not know how it was not called as it was so obvious but either way it would not make much difference as while ware was being held was when another got a sack on Brunell...can not remember who it was that time.

I also believe Samuels held at least one other time that I glimpsed but I could not be sure as the angle was odd.

But either way, not only is Ware adjusting to the NFL (as Canty and Spears is doing) and Learning the 3-4 (as spears is doing) he is also learning to play LB in the 3-4 along with his DE training.

The talent is there, it is just a matter of time before he gets his mind there, and coming in next year with a full offseason in the weight program and a year of the system under his belt I expect big things.

Ok, I will accept he's learning and he's a work in progress, but I've seen too much DE play like Shante Carver, Ekubust and Pittman to feel confident we have found the missing pass rusher. I want to see our pass rusher actually seperate from the OL once the OL gets his hands on him. Ware isn't doing that right now.

The player I would like to know - what was going on last night was Al Singleton.
He did not have a good night in coverage and run defending.
