only if there is a clause in his contract that states Jason Garrett must "kiss the ring" before every padded practice and game

Jerry said his legs we're gone whenever he left. They've got to be really gone now.

4 sacks just won't cut it

Don't want Chandler Jones either. Dude disappears for weeks at a time

If he can put pressure on the QB who cares how old he is? This team hasn't had a pass rush since he left.

Like I said in a prior post if the market is similar to when Peppers signed a 3 year 26 million dollar deal with Green Bay we need to go another direction based on injury history. If its a 2 year deal in the 8 to 12 million range for the total contract we should be very interested. History shows elite pass rushers can still produce age 34 and beyond. I'm willing to take the chance with his injuries knowing what he could be if healthy.

Ware makes all the sense in the world if the price is right and the Cowboys aren't jumping into the top des in the market.

The Cowboys are becoming a halfway house for DE's with serious back issues.

Ware would be right at home.

He's old and broken down. I don't care if you have a poster of him on your wall.

Poster on the wall hahahaha. Agree he's old and broken down. I would take him if he was like a 10-15 play a game guy. People forget a lot of his production in Denver came because other teams focused on Miller. In Dallas, sadly, Ware would be the guy they would look for

Im sure there are some guys on here that are open to a vet minimum deal that's incentive laden..

15+ sacks = 1M bonus
20+ sacks = 2M bonus

You have ask is a healthy Ware for 6-8 games better than a full season of healthy Mayowa/J.Crawford?

You may have properly framed the question...if the money is comparable...if the health risks (back) are comparable and if Ware's greatness hasn't diminished too dramatically with the striations of age.

Benson, 6 sacks
Ware, 6 hurries

Benson is young and may be emerging into a solid (though never great) player. Ware was greatness personified but is age-fading out of relevance.

I like Demarcus W as a person. If he can bring enough on a one-year contract I'd consider it. But this doesn't solve much.

Yeah... getting a huge fan favorite, role model citizen, future hall of famer with super bowl experience at a position we sorely need is such a bad idea.

exactly. for the right price I'm overly interested. if the ONLY thing he can do is be a leader, relay his sb experiences, and be a role model I'm still in. Add any potential production on top of it? Hell yes

The only part I find "not debatable" is the part about a player agent using whatever leverage they can get - real or imagined - in an attempt to maximize their client's earning potential. If Denver is the only suitor, Ware will have to take whatever they offer. If they claim that Dallas is interested or he's open to a return there, that gives the impression of a demand for his services. That's exactly what's going on here.

Nor do I think that Ware can be had for a song like many fans want to believe.

Sorry dude, we will have to disagree. I agree that this is the time of the year that agents/players/media just throw crap against the wall to see what sticks but it is very possible that Ware, an unrestricted free agent for a new coaching staff, could hit the open market and if he does, it is logical he would want to return here.

Does he want to go a new organization and start over or go to a team that is on the cusp of a Super Bowl where he already has roots? Schefter's report that Ware would like to return to Denver but he is "open to a return to Dallas" sounds absolutely reasonable, I really don't see why that is debatable.

Does the following quote sound like a guy that would love to end his career by winning a Super Bowl with the team that he spent the bulk of his career with?

"Yeah. You play for a team for a long time, and you think about, you know, you would really like to play for them," Ware told the Dallas News. "But now you went to another team and there is change.

"Every year, you always feel like you’re going to make the Super Bowl, but you weren’t able to finish it out. You have to cherish where your feet are, you have to live in the moment, and it’s an experience for you.

Specifically, Ware wanted to share the moment of triumph with some of his former teammates.

"I wish Jason Witten was here," Ware said. "Or Tony Romo was here. Jay Ratliff. Chris Canty."

It’s natural for a veteran player to remember the long road that got him to this place. And, in a moment like this, remembering the guys he strapped it up with for nearly a decade is honorable.

He said that one year ago. He has a lot of love for Jerry, the city, the organization and a player like Jason Witten. Demarcus Ware would love to return to this city if things don't work out with Denver. The only question is if the Cowboys will be interested. If they aren't looking to hand out long contracts with huge guaranteed money, there is a chance that Ware could be on their radar.

I'd be open to it like everyone is saying, cheap deal as he'd instantly be the best pass rusher on the team however I think him taking up a roster spot from a younger developing player on the DL becomes a problem. We are already looking at Irving, Collins, TCraw, Thornton, Tapper, presumably a high round draft pick (Barnett, Tak, Harris, Taco, Hall, or Walker) and then you add Ware. I honestly think Gregory gets it together at some point soon and Jerry gives him another shot. Either Ware would be a roster problem or a situational pass rushing ideal.
Would be dreamy to get him back and win a ring.

I would like that, as a situational pass rusher, why not, he also may be able to help the younger players...
