First off I love Ware and deep down I what him to be a Cowboy. I hope they work it out. But from a business standpoint, lets play what if.... Dallas cuts Ware and saves 7.4 mil on the cap....By doing so , can this allow Dallas to to sign 2 FA's??? I used Peppers (likely FA) and Melton only for example, feel free to pick any 2.... Could you parlay cutting Ware into getting 2 starters via FA, couple that with a draft pick and viola, new D Line??? Just curious what everyone thinks??

Peppers would probably wants a good chunk of money still. Melton I'd be very happy picking up

I prefer spending money on Clinton McDonald and Lamar Houston if Ware is cut. Hope Aaron Donald is there when Dallas pick comes up in the draft. That would be a solid improvement for Dallas' front four.

I think that's the whole idea. Free up space to sign more talent

I'd prefer if Ware just gave us about 3M in cap relief... allowing us to sign one mid-level FA to mark off the check box of needs heading into the draft (FS maybe).

If we are faced with a bigger savings from cutting Ware (I think it's actually 7.6M), then I agree that Lamar Houston is high atop my wish list. FS Chris Clemons is up there too.

I would trade Ware for Peppers and Melton in a heartbeat. Every GM in the league would do that.

I don't think the 7 mill would be enough to do that though...

For the first year it could work, but they would have to sign Peppers to at least two years to make the money fit at that level.

Not a big Peppers fan, he takes too many plays off and is a non-factor too often. He fits that NC stereotype of of tons of ability and seemingly lack of desire to be great. His innate athleticism makes a couple of highlight plays, but not enough to be a game/season changer for the money

But a package of Peppers and Melton is too good to pass up if the money is equal

Theoretically, an organization could get two for the price of one. Seattle got Bennett and Avril for the price we paid for Spencer. But this organization? I doubt very much the Jones Boys could pull off a coup like that.

Melton is every Cowboys fan FA-Crush right now. And he makes a lot of sense.

But I would probably pass on Peppers. Unless Rod can get him to come cheap and thinks that he still has gas in the tank.

Yes, I would do it if I had to choose 2 or the other.

The Cowboys could sign them both for less than the 7.4M in 2014. You could sign 2 player to the same 50M contract that Carr signed for 1st year cap hits of 3.2M each. Peppers wn't get anywhere near that kind of money at this point.
