SAPP SAYS SO LONG

Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp announced on Thursday that he's retiring after 13 NFL season.

Sapp was a first-round pick of the Bucs in 1995, and he signed with the Raiders as a free agent in 2004.

Coach Lane Kiffin strongly hinted on Monday that Sapp would pack it in. He confided to a few reporters after the regular-season finale that he planned to pack it in, but he wanted to tell owner Al Davis first.

Nobody even think he is hall of fame. I didn't feel sorry for him at all with him sucking with the raiders.

He was a big reason Oakland had the worst run defense in the league :(

Strangely enough, he was still pretty good at the pass rush. A pretty decent career for him overall though, and would be a hall of famer if the hall of fame didn't discriminate against defensive players and lineman.

Good for him, always loved to watch him play. He's one of those guys I woulda liked to see go out on top though

Warren "The Sapp" had lost my respect when he blindsided that cat from Greenbay on a kickoff. Then he goes and challenges a 50+ year old coach to a scrap? Completely uncalled for and when I heard him complain about cut blocks............how's it feel Sapp?

Sapp was an amazing athlete, incredibly agile for a guy with his build. That said, he was as annoying as they come in front of a camera and was never as good as he thought he was. Great player but not HoF worthy IMO. Unfortunately, he WILL get in because it is after all the "Hall of FAME" and not the "Hall of Greatness" and there's no denying his fame.

A lot of mouth, little action. He had his day in the Sun the year that Tampa won it all in a "parity" era.
The poster boy for "U. of Miami" big mouth, "yo-yo wat's up" "bling-bling" living large embarrassment to the game.

Good. Hit he road. No "Bob Lilly" or "Randy White" he. Not even a Mean Joe Greene or a Carl Ellard. Just a "whiff", one-day-here, next-day-gone big talker.

His career came to a fitting, losing, end with the Raiders. Playing on the West Coast for a nobody. Should've went with the Eagles or the Steelers or SOMEBODY who plays a little defense. Then, the players around him would've at least made him look good....................instead of an overweight, fat lard who did nothing but clog up the middle.

Micheal Irvin represented Miami a hundred times better than Sapp.

Just go away quietly............finally.

If Sapp hadn't got caught smoking weed he would have been.........a Cowboy. We would have drafted him.

Exactly, we miss out on 2 HOF players for that reason, Moss and Sapp....Yes I think Sapp is a HOF easily......he was the main reason Tampa went from last to first period.............Notice how Moss went to Oakland and career mess up bad, same for Sapp, I think he can give some team 1 or 2 great years if he were dealt.....

Warren Sapp had quite a run and was he ever tailor made for Dungy's Tampa 2.

But I'll always remember the fact the Bucs flipped Sapp and Booger McFarland(?) for one game when they played the Dallas Cowboys to get him away from Big Bad Larry Allen.

Just like the Vikings moved DT John Randle to DE to avoid LA.

Mad respect.

The only one that listens to Sapp, is Sapp. He's a bore. He's about as cool as a Duralog.

Thanks for reminding us the writer's strike hasn't been resolved.

I wonder which network Sapp will tiptoe too. I figure ESPN will be looking to replace Keyshawn now that his man boobed shadow has disappeared.

Dallas did not have a first round pick in 1995. Sapp was drafted 12th over all. I guess Dallas traded away their pick, but even if they kept it they would have drafted near the bottom of the draft. They did not have much of a chance of getting Sapp unless they traded up that year. It doesn't look like weed had anything to do with Dallas not drafting Sapp.
