Was it just me? Or did Julius Jones play very well?

To me, he really showed a lot. I mean he really pushed for that extra yard, it seemed like, every time he had the ball. He unfortunately fumbled that one time, on a great play by Taylor, but other than that, I really think he had a solid game. Didn't quite get 100 yards, but he just seemed to be amped up for this one.

The fumble is always the fault of the carrier, but I give Taylor a LOT of credit for a very heads up and smart play.

Yes - Jones looked very good. Those who say he can't run unless there are monster holes...well...he showed up tonight. Great second efforts, power, etc. Actually, all 3 of our running backs played admirably.

He has proved, without question, that he is our starting running back. You have to love the way he ran against that physical Washington team.

Jones had a great game, he was running hard and not giving defenders a big target to hit. No doubt the line play helped him out but it was nice to see Jones break some tackles.

Jones looked awesome--alot of confidence and power in his running. He was cutting into the thick of things too, not just trying to bounce outside. And these cuts were getting him 3 or four more extra yards each time.

It seemed that he did a much better job of keeping his head up and seeing the lanes. Even the 2 yard carries looked much better - rather than just running into a blocker's back he found what little seem he could and made a couple of yards out of nothing.

Ran hard last night. I agree that he didn't just run up in the middle. Better vision, but I do love MBIII as well!

He was on my opponents Fantasy Football team. Man I wanted Barber in the game.

That was the best I have seen Jones run between the tackles.

He looked great last night.

Other than the penalties and drops, I thought we looked good last night.

Especially for the second game.

Let's work out some wrinkles during the bye week and get ready for a road trip to Tenn.

I agree. Only negatives I really saw in the game were the 2 areas you mentioned the Boys need to do a better job on eliminating some of these fouls other than that I felt pretty good about what we were doing

The O line was actually run blocking. Makes a big difference.

Great game by Jones... "Emmitt-like" if you will.
In chat last night, everybody kept saying, "Nice Run" I told Trick that if you say it enuff, you realize he just had a good game. It wasn't a "sexy" game. The kind we tend to want from him, but he avergaged 4.7 ypc with runs being called back on penalties.

Very solid. No complaints with his effort, even w/the fumble.

Jones showed up once again, that he is our starting RB. Say all that you want, but he's starting off this season right, and woudl be over 200 yards rushing for the season, if not for some stupid peniltes. THis kid is a playmaker.

Jones ran hard. He was not tentative and looked good. He did a good job of finding the holes.

The prettiest run was Tyson Thompson outflanking Andre Carter to the outside. Carter had him trapped and cornered, and Tyson put on the afterburners and beat him to the outside.

Not sure if the play was called back, but it was pretty.

I disagree - that's the EXACT kind of game I want from him.

If you'll recall, Trick and I were both clamoring to run the ball more in the 3rd quarter. (We took some heat for it, everyone saying 'I thought we were TOO conservative last week.') Jones quietly was one of the 3 offensive MVPs.

You would be in the minority. Too many, on this board at least, want those 200-yd game explosions. I was happy with the game last night and want more of them. But if he doesn't break a long one, then you're gonna get some Julius didn't play well type comments. Nature of being game-breaker type back.

Personally, I didn't think we were conservative enuff last week. Sometimes you gotta take ball out of Bledsoe's hands in order re-establish some rhythm.

Even last night, I thought they threw too much. Bledsoe threw 38 passes. I'd rather he was closer to 30 than 40.
