Was it me or did Rudy Carpenter look very good last night in the Minnesota Game. I am starting to wonder if he does not look bettter than McGee as being the 3rd QB especially with Joe Montana referencing him to the NFL. He looks awfully poised and diesn't hold the ball as long as McGee. I really think if cut some team is going to jump on him.

Carpenter is a terrible QB. He should not be on an NFL roster.

Carpenter wasn't having to do much, and he wasn't getting much pressure.

I don't usually discount preseason performances based on what string was in the game, but you really have to do that when you are talking about the 2nd half in the 4th preseason game.

I think if McGee was back there, he could have easily duplicated that performance under those conditions.

Rudy looked like maybe he could be a PS guy. But his performance certainly was not so commanding that another team is going to pick him up based on that. This isn't like Matt Moore a few years back who played outstanding all preseason long.

I'll just say this. Carpenter played surprisingly well last night. I was shocked. Tremendous poise.

He'll be cut this afternoon, but maybe he has an outside shot at the practice squad.

I cannot stand Rudy Carpenter. I've seen too many interviews where he acts like an arrogant punk. I threw up in my mouth when we signed him.

He played decent with 2nd and 3rd stringers against 2nd and 3rd stringers. I won't be shocked if he lands on the PS. I think he earned it. I don't think he is better than McGee.

Nobody is going to jump on him and he's not going to be on our practice squad, McGee will be runnning the scout team and needs all the work he can get. He looked good because he was playing against spares....

This is what I've been saying, our backup OL wasn't bad at all last nite. They gave Kitna and Carp time to throw and TC has some nice runs too. Yes, McQ and Free still need work but they did a good job and I definately like Preston over Proctor at C. As for Carp, I was impressed. I've never seen him play but he slid in the pocket well, he was poised, and threw the ball well.

I was impressed by his pocket presence and his instincts, I did not see either of them in college but I think Carpenter looked more at ease at the position during the preseason.

He did look good, but that probably doesn't mean much. Practice squad at best.

That 'ducking under the DE' move was very Romo like. :laugh2:

I don't know if his throws were meant to be rainbows but some of those throws would have been completions if he would have thrown them in with some zip.

Yep. The way he got the starting gig at ASU was a little weird to say the least.

Decent poise in the pocket, but I don't think he has the arm strength to be an NFL starter.

Watching R. Carpenter at training camp, it was clear he was throwing rainbows when everyone else was throwing lasers.

If that is the case the only thing he is good for is running scout team when we face a slippery QB so if we lose him then it really isn't a big loss since his throws take so long to get there I am surprised he wasn't picked off more last night.
