Just imo I think it was, this gave the lions a easy TD .
MM did this once in his first season here, and I thought that was stupid too.

There was plenty of game left, no need to gamble like that from your own 37 yd line.
Just punt and play defense.. there was 2 min 45 seconds left in the half it was 20-3 , their own 37, just crazy stupid to go for it.

With how the defense was playing at that point I understand why they went for it being a 3 possession game. Just an awful play call though.

No. It wasn’t a stupid call.

The problem is…. The offense is so bad that you don’t even have a bread and butter play to use in that situation and you damn sure can’t trust running the ball to get it either.

The decision wasn't bad. The play call trying to get the first down was horrible. Terrible play design. This team has ZERO bread and butter plays. Everything is a struggle. I've watched other teams play pitch and catch with WRs and TEs for easy 5 yd plays.

It's only stupid when you don't make it. Same as any call. If it don't work, there is someone, somewhere who will call it stupid.
.
So would it have been stupid if it worked? No, then it would have brilliant!

Absolutely, yes! Moronic coaching decision that has failed so many times by McCarthy.

It’s a call that says my defense is getting trashed I need to keep the ball away from the Lions offense . It’s a desperation move just about forced on you .

It was not a good idea f you have a realistic assessment of the Cowboys ability on offense.

They have a pathetic running game with no talent at RB and raw inexperience on the offensive line.

If this had been Zeke in his prime behind the All-Pro offensive line then, sure, go for it. However, this present roster? It might be a better idea to punt on 3rd down.....except the defense is actually worse.

1st ranked scoring offense last season.....5th ranked defense.

It wasn't just bad luck and injuries that created a non-competitive joke. This team's inept performances are the result of very poor decisions by management.

How in the world do you not actively seek at least one productive RB and attempt some semblance of offensive balance?

This team never had a chance right out the gates.

By all respect, Zeke still is in his prime, we love him, we appreciate the great things he's done for this team this season, I really see him as a vital piece of our superbowl run this season (Jerry jones lol)

FRAUD
BOX OF ROCKS
The entire NFL watched the soap opera between McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers play out game after game.
When it was all over, nobody in the NFL, wanted anything to do with McCarthy.
Until Jerry felt Mike he was desperate enough to agree to Jerry being able to run the team. McCarthy being a yes man. If it wasn't for Quinn and Moore Mike would have been gone year 3.

Yes it is stupid.

Our offense was going no where until that point of the game.
You still have a small chance for a comeback so why take such a high risk in your own territory?

You had no chance in this game so far. Punt the ball and try to to figure something out during halftime.

A stupid decission stays stupid regardless of the outcome. There are reasons for it to call it stupid. And those have nothing to do with the outcome of the play.

Would Landry do it?

8)

Punt.

It's funny you mention this because that time he did it his first season was when I started to worry he wasn't too bright.

I thought it was a bad decision. I think there was something like 2:43 left in the half and McCarthy was hoping to get the first down and maybe score some points while running out the clock. I supposed he was respecting the Lions offense which was running up and down the field against Dallas..

I would have punted from my own 38. Make them drive the length of the field and hope the defense can at least hold them to a FG if they score at all.

But I get MM's decision. It's just not what I would have done.

I think the worse decision was kicking the FG later in the game down 34-6. They were at the Lions 32 with 8:32 left in the 3rd quarter. They needed 4 TDs to tie the game. What was the point in kicking the FG? I understand 4th and 12 was a low percentage play but what good is a FG there? I thought they had to go for it low percentage or not.

But less noticed what how they were forcing the ball into CeeDee's hands when it was obvious the Lions were going to do everything they needed to do to take CeeDee out of the game.

But to e honest, there was no winning strategy for beating the Lions. They are just a far superior team to Dallas in every way. We will see more matchups like this and we should be prepared for more lopsided games.
