Was JJT Right?

Is this team only average? If not, for screwed up shotgun snap by Miami, we likely lose at home to a 3-7 team. Glad for the win, but don't have much confidence in this team against better teams.

JJT right...

I think this team is average. We have a great QB, but average Defense and lousy Special teams. Our O-line isn't good either, but our QB is and masks their weakness.

We have scrimped out 3 wins that could have gone either way, but wins they are.

My biggest concern is having Jerry and Garrett as our leadership
. Jerry has not shown the ability to grasp the reality of the team and it's weakness, Garrett seems little better. I'm worried that we will not address the problems in any coherent manner. If Romo wasn't a magician in the pocket this season would be pretty nasty.

Your bigger concern should be to understand what the hell you are talking about.

I don't get it. if we have a screwed up shot gun snap, which we have, then we are bad. we can't snap. its, this or that and never the other team got lucky because of our bad snap.

when the other team gets a bad snap, its we are lucky.

You can't cherry pick and eliminate a play in a game and then assume the rest of the game would have went unchanged. If you take out a big play, the game changes. The teams are in a different situation.

Supposedly 'you are what your are.'

Funny, when we are 2-3, we are a 'bad team' because 'you are what you are.'

But, when we are 7-4, we are now told to scrap that and we are just an average team.

The Commanders stink. But, the Dolphins...if you look at 'stats that matter' are not all that bad whatsoever.

We definitely won a few that we could have lost. But we've also lost a few we could have won. In the end, it all comes out in the wash and we're 7-4.

Parity. Right now, it's Green Bay and everyone else.

I have watched bunch of first place cowboys team...and this is probably the worst cowboy 1st place team i have watched. Dallas has been extraordinarily fortunate with possibly their weakest schedule ever. That being said....I have faith in Garrett and believe greatness awaits him.....this december would be good time to put his stamp on this team and start a long legacy of winning big games.

We are better than average and that is a fact.

We are less than dominant though.

Getting better week by week. As Garrett would say, it's a process and the string of recent wins helps. Confidence, and having been there before counts. The Cowboys win so many close games, they are in their comfort zone believe it or not, compared to most teams in that situation... they need to learn to step on other teams and put games away earlier instead of letting them hang around.

Bunch of drama queens I suppose?

I've certainly seen worse, and recently.

yes it is, if you're a good team, you dont need overtime and a last minute fieldgoal to beat bad teams in Wash and Mia....good teams blow them out by halftime...Dallas is an average team, they have good pieces, but overall they're an average team...

The Packers only beat the lowly Vikes by 6 points.

The Pats lost to the Bills.

The Saints lost at home to the Rams.

The Jets lost to Denver.

The Ravens lost to the Titans.

The Giants lost to the Seahawks.

You are right, good teams never lose to bad teams.

The first 6 games we had, by far, the hardest schedule in the league. @NYJ on 9/11. @SF. Then we had the Commanders when they were looking good (beat G-Men in week 1), Detroit when they were undefeated. Etc, etc.

But we were still a .500 ball club that should have won 2 of those games we lost...if not 3 (vs. New England). Now we have the weaker part of the schedule.

Right. And then it gets tough again with 3 games against div opponents and another game on the road.

JJT wasn't right. If he happened to be, it was only a clock-stopped-twice situation.

But has anyone looked at how many teams with a winning record we've beaten? One.

The amazing thing is that we only have one more team with a winning record left on our schedule. Seems almost incredible.

Which speaks very well of our ability to get into the playoffs and very poorly of how we'll do once there.

some of you negative fans are really humorous
we are a team that is not healthy
we have a new Oline just getting to know each other
we have a complex new D without the benefit of an offseason
could be 10-1 (not too many teams could claim that)
have won 4 in a row against NFL competition
have a week and a half to get back some injured key starters
and all you can do is complain

:bang2:

Some of these items speak more to the direction the Cowboys are moving, which I would agree with you is very positive. The new o-line might need a full season and a full offseason to really hit their groove consistently. The complex new D without the benefit of the full offseason -- same, by definition.

Most of the other items are comforting and I generally agree. I've really enjoyed this win streak and, given our schedule, expect us to probably make the playoffs. I don't, however, think that the Cowboys have a great chance to do well in the playoffs but obviously we won't know until we get there.

As for being an injured team, I expect that we are healthier than average for an NFL team in late November.

Dallas is doing what they have to do with is win. Clearly this team needs to continue to work and improve as they move on. Beats the hell out of losing and trying to improve. Quite frankly even some of the other playoff contenders have gone through ups and downs and played some bad games but won in the end. Dallas is no different

JJT is wrong, of course.

This is an above average team that is in transition. The defensive philosophy is entirely new. Even though we have the same OC I think he is trying to do different things than he was before. He needs to rebuild the OL and his job is about half done there as we still need two or three new starters over the next one to two years. Once that transition is complete we are going to look like a very different offense and we had a brief look at what we are going to try and be in the preseason before the injuries mounted.

I would agree that we are not legit SB contenders. If we get healthy and the OL play holds up we are arguably the second best team in the NFC. At full strength we are better than the Lions, Saints, Bears, Giants and 49ers. Packers are definitely playing at a higher level than us. The usual "any given Sunday" mantra applies and Ryan has been known to throw out the odd defensive gem against elite QBs. I think we would stand more of a chance if we could get Carter acclimated to the nickel defense so he could be out there helping to defend against the Packers passing attack but I guess that won't happen until next year.

Overall, I am very happy with the play of the team this year. I like our direction, philosophy and attitude. We still need a bit of work on execution and consistency but I think this will come too.

Mediots selling ifs and ignorant fans are buying it. Dallas is the only team that have to blow out every opponent, have a 200 yard rusher/game and 3 100 yard WRs/gm while Romo passes for 400 yards/gm to be consider a winning legit team.

JJT is a damn fool and anyone that subscribe to his foolish logic ain't too bright either.

Check the won/loss and margin of the last 5 super bowl team and see how many games were blowouts even against supposed inferior teams.

The Tuna said it best, you are what your record says you are. It is funny how the mediots were praising the deadskins and midgets when they were winning against the same teams that we are now winning against. Some how we let the mediots off the hook and then prentend to disagree with their take by making silly posts like this one. smh
