Was Marinelli always the target?

I'v heard that they decided to fire RR well before the end of the season

Next, they decided that they wanted to implement a 4-3.

Next, they were able to verify that they could get Kiffin before the NFL season ended. They would have had to wait to see if the Chicago staff was fired and if Marinelli would stay there; therefore they decided on Kiffin.

After deciding on Kiffin, I think they planned to have him get them started on this defense and then have an assistant in place to take over. Once Marinelli became available and took the job, they probably expected him to take over.

They probably would have hired Marinelli as DC from the beginning if they knew for certain that he would be available and would take the job.

Kiffin's over view was invaluable...and his age was the determining factor here. The transition hit huge injury problems, and usually takes four years in the best of circumstances.

Kiffin wore out a little faster than did Bill Parcells, but Bill was younger considerably.

But the signing was a tag team from the start. Think?

It was pretty evident from the get go simply due to Kiffs age. There was a lot of debate in live game threads regarding this very subject. How great of an impact Rod really was/could have seeing as he was on the field and capable of relaying needed changes to Kiff in the booth (but nothing changed).

You ever worked somewhere and when a guy left, all of a sudden all kinds of crazy stuff ended up getting blamed on him?

It is hard to believe that an unorganized guy like Ryan could suddenly turn it all around in NO the next year.

No they went into detail how they saw these things with their own eyes. Not what they were told

Lacewell may have said it too. But Jerry did talk about how they were at the Senior Bowl one year and Parcells was watching Kiffin coach and told Jerry how great he thought Monte was

Link?

Why not ask for a link on Lacewell? Go search the internet on your own if you don't believe what i recall.

Lacewell is well documented. The Parcells comment you dug up from God knows where is not.

Make a statement like that, back it up.

Yes, I'm sure all those hacks really know about how a defensive coaching staff works.

They do t need to know how they work. They know the cowboys schedules. And who and who is notit meetings. Talkin cowboys is pretty accurate withtheyre reports. They were reporting bout spencer weeks before we hear bout spencers progress in the media. Call them hacks all you want but they know whats going on at vr

I am presented what I recall reading at the time. If that bothers you, put me on ignore. I have neither the time nor inclination to spend a few hours finding where I read that.

You could have just said you made it up and saved a few posts.

Don't be an #$% - why one earth would I make that up? Believe it or not, but don't call me a liar.

Well, better that than make you have to spend "hours" on Google trying to find something like that.

Once again, don't be such an @#$.

That's what I recall reading. Believe it or not. But you might ask yourself a few questions like "gee is it plausible?" Were they ever at the Senior Bowl together? Now go look that up and see if that evidence fits or not.

No thanks. I don't want to spend valuable seconds, not hours, wondering if your claim is plausible.

Ive always had this thought in my head since the hiring of Kiffin. It was clear Kiffin had struggled way before he even came to Dallas. When Marinelli was hired this front office praised him more then they had even praised Kiffin. When media talked about the defense in TC it always started with Marinelli. Knowing the friendship and loyalty Marinelli had for Kiffin if this was the plan it was genius. I dont think Marinelli comes to Dallas in Kiffin wasnt already there. All this talk about Marinelli to Tampa was all media driven as we all know now. Dallas wasnt ever going to let him leave. Tampa wasnt going to offer anything for him. Kiffin seemed to just step aside this yr and accept his role as consultant with ease and like clockwork.

Just makes me wonder if they knew what they were doing all along.

Conspiracy theory that I am going to buy. I think my Latin brutha is on to something. Makes total sense. But who knows?

Yet you are happy to call me a liar.

That pretty much tells me just about all I need to know about you.
