Wasn't Gallup supposed to replace Dez?

I’m willing to bet OP doesn’t even have access to All-22...”lazy routes” sounds like the epitome of a lazy wanna be scout.

We could have Jerry Rice and Randy Moss out there on the outside and I don’t see this offense excelling in passing the ball down the field. There’s systemic issues...no WR was going to solve anything

i love the knee jerking with rookies lololol. conner williams is a bust after the first game and he grades out as our 2nd best lineman in the second game. come on guys, give these guys a chance.

Allen Hurns, now that's a funny name. Funny cause he's been missing from the stat sheet. Seems like anyone touted as the #1 seemingly disappears.

I get that but this guy had some serious hype around here. I have yet to see any glimpse of something special. That's why I'm asking. What has he shown thus far? To me absolutely nothing.
serious hype? he was a 3rd round pick.

Rookie WRs being counted on to replace former Pro Bowlers year 1 is always fool's gold.

Gallup should have really great upside and I love where they selected him.
But this isn't going to be a Romo to Dez offense anytime soon.

For those playing along at home
Calvin Ridley has 4 catches for 64 yards and a TD.
DJ Moore has 1 catch for 51 yards and a TD.

Both those offenses pass it more than Dallas.

DAL never should have used a WR this year in RD1.
They didn't and it looks smarter by the day.

Now will they decide to do so next year?
Guess it depends on just how many other holes they seem to have.
Right now give me the Bama safety or Iowa TE.

The problem was for some fans in their desire to claim the WRs corps was just fine and would be really good is that they ignored the reality that rookie WRs often take some time to get their feet under them. It might even take a full season. You occasionally get some rookies who make immediate, big impacts but it's not that often.

People should have tempered their expectations of Gallup and gone into this knowing the kid would likely need some time, maybe a lot of time, to get acclimated to the NFL game.

I still think he'll be a good WR and it's way to early to project what he is or won't be.

Great reply and I'll add to it, did Dez do great out of the shoot? No. He needed extra time as well...

Gallup is a rookie WR drafted in the 3rd round. Anybody who thought he was going to come in on day #1 and be a top 10-20 WR1 was fooling themselves.

Personally, I think Gallup is the best WR on the team. I wish they'd put him out there and let him learn, play him more. I mean, it's not like he's playing behind a bunch of big time receivers.

No one ever said he was a Randy Moss type. If we wanted to replace Dez we should have moved up and got Courtland Sutton. That would have been a number 1 receiver coming into the fold. PS. That said, Courtland only has 3 catches thus far this year. However Denver's wide outs are a crapload better then ours.

Gallup has suffered drops in training camp and simply isn't there yet.
Draftnik fans need to let the natural maturation at WR take place.
Gallup will be fine but he isn't a top 3 WR on this team this second.
Come Week 17? possible and maybe even probable.

He's actually has 1 more snap than Thompson with simply less production.

Beasley. Hurns. Gallup and Thompson are the 4 "starting" WRs.
After those 4 the snaps drop off a lot.

Austin is a package guy that .. well we saw the game. His snaps are safe, lol.

its Not the norm for rookie receivers to make a big splash early in their rookie season. i think gallop will be fine in time..he's playing against nfl pros every week and two top 10 defenses the first two weeks. seattle D isnt a slouch this week either. its an adjustment. i wont judge him til the last quarter of the season.

Yea, that is realistic. A third round WR is suppose to replace Dez.

I wouldn't say he's the best WR on the team however I will say he does have very high potential...

Courtland Sutton has been targeted 11 times and made 3 receptions.
He was a raw as rain WR and overdrafted based on physical tools.
I've seldom seen a guy in a wide open passing attack play WR so medicore but be beloved at draft time.

But I agree he might be Dez Bryant in a couple years time if he develops the skill portion of position work.
