Wasn't Gallup supposed to replace Dez?

Wasn't Gallup supposed to replace Dez? Because I don't see anything from him. He's not fast, he runs lazy routes, I suppose he has good hands but I haven't seen anything up to this point. Can he block? He looks like a worse version of old dez.

Am I missing something? I know he's a rookie but damn.

Just be patient.

Jaylon Smith said he looks awesome in practice and they think he could be something once he establishes himself.

NFL is just hard on rookie wideouts.

Also, the Dak / Linehan combo would make the best receivers in this league look underwhelming. Much less a rookie.

No one is supposed to replace dez, that was about the money, dez wasnt doing enough for what they were having to pay him.
and I think he refused a paycut.
All the receivers and Te's and RB's they have now probably all together can be paid
with what dez was getting !
plus with witten gone thats 8 mil more so dez what 15 mil a year and the 8 makes 23 million
they can use for other players or save to put in jerrys bank vault.

Courtland Sutton has been targeted 11 times and made 3 receptions.
He was a raw as rain WR and overdrafted based on physical tools.
I've seldom seen a guy in a wide open passing attack play WR so medicore but be beloved at draft time.

But I agree he might be Dez Bryant in a couple years time if he develops the skill portion of position work.

To this, this is exactly my point... Gallup does have high potential. Just needs time out on the field and he'll get there....

1st, no he was not supposed to replace Dez. No one player was supposed to replace Dez. The plan was to spread the ball around. Second, he is not a speedster, but he runs well. Even so, it doesn't take speed to replace Dez. That was never his game. As for lazy routes, that's not the story the coaches and media have told.

I think the bottom line is they are truly going with WR by committee, plus Gallup is a rookie. Nobody is intended to be THE go to guy. Give Gallup a year or two under his belt and that may change.

I’d say that the chances of him never coming close to Dez is a lot more likely. The team doesn’t have a #1 right now. Let’s see how it plays out though.

I don't think asking a rookie 3rd round pick to replace a Dez Bryant is realistic. But that's just me.

LOL oh really? Because when I pointed out in the offseason he'll probably give us production on the level of Robert Woods, I had multiple people coming in calling me an Eagles fan and didn't know what I was talking about.

I guess expecting a third round pick to play like a third round pick is crazy.

He has replaced Dez. He's pretty invisible right? Rumor is that he'll be stepping up his sideline antics in the coming weeks.

Production wise, at the end of the year there may be a couple that's replaced him...........except for the temper tantrums on the sidelines, that may take a little time.

until the QB gets better or changes........

I think I am just going to now refer to Dak as the WR killer

If I think that poor qb play led to Dez's diminished stats then what do you think poor qb play will do to a rookies stats? It was expected.

Not sure why Gallup was anointed as Dez's replacement in his rookie season, but he has the third highest snap count behind Beasley and Hurns and that is means the coaches have a pretty high level of trust in him. Dak is currently throwing 17 times per game and averaging 165 yards per game. If that keeps up then Dallas will be lucky to have their top receiver crack 700 yards receiving, much less have their third receiver crack 1000 yards.

Who said he was suppose to replace Dez? Gallop is a 3rd round rookie not a 1st round pick. To think he is going to come in and put up a 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns is reaching really high. He has played a total of 2 NFL games and you are bringing him down? Give the kid a chance!

Gallup is a rookie 3rd rd draft pick. How does anyone have expectations of that being a replacement for Dez Bryant? Do you think that little of Dez's performance on the field?

ok, well... I'm not, nor was i one of those people.

I get that but this guy had some serious hype around here. I have yet to see any glimpse of something special. That's why I'm asking. What has he shown thus far? To me absolutely nothing.

I expect him to be just fine. It’s very uncommon for rookie receivers to burst out the gate.

I didn't hear anyone say he was going to replace Dez his rookie year. But when can you do when the morons have Twill starting and Gallup coming off the bench? Austin sure did a nice job the other day.

We hardly thrown the ball and he doesn't start. They truly are a Wr by committee. Which is kinda stupid. Get the best 4 guys and get the chemistry going.

In short, you cant show much if they barely throw and if you barely play.

Yes according to the wackos who believed a 3rd round pick would come in day one and perform at an all-pro level

To everyone else, he has potential, but I don't think we will see real flashes until game 12-13.
