I worry he's shell shocked. He won't get to the 3rd round though someone will decide they can fix him

not sure how I feel about him, I mean he was on a team with, according to writers and from what I have seen, a terrible oline and some not so good WRs. Did you see him scrambling around trying to make something happen and there were a number of dropped balls that were good throws.

Not claiming he is gonna be anything that he is not, but he WAS considered top QB until past couple months. 4th rounder maybe.

I am a bit concerned that we draft a qb later in this draft, then pass on others next year or the year after because we think we have our future qb.

He needs to go somewhere and sit for about 4 years before he ever steps on the field.

Then you might have a poor mans Stafford if you're lucky.

His OL gets more blame than it should. He was just as bad.

The dude got sacked in about 2 seconds with a two man rush in one f the draft breakdown videos I saw. His O-line didn't get enough blame.

That being said, I'm not sure I'd be excited about drafting the kid.

I'd take him over Prescott as a developmental QB

Lotsa folks think differently but his isn't the average case. The circumstances he played under were anything but ideal. Only time will tell if he's able to cut it in the pros. It's always a gamble.

For sure........whats with all the blame on Olines at the FBS level (Goff/ Hackenberg)......we are always told the talent "up there" is undeniably better all across the board.......and yet when it comes to explaining why a QB underperforms in wins or stats, they throw out the Oline to get hit by the bus everytime. Maybe its the Oline coaching at the FBs level that needs to get better............

Phil Sims via CBS sports saying he is ranking Qb Wentz, Lynch, Goff in that order..........must not know anything, he's a former FCS level QB.

Doesn't matter. Never in the history of football should a QB be sacked with 5 o-lineman against a 2 man rush at ANY level of football. Ever. Playing behind a unit that inept will shell shock any QB.

That's not to absolve Hackenberg of his actual shortcomings but looking at his work in a vacuum without taking into consideration his surroundings/situation is wilful ignorance.

I wouldn't lose any sleep if we took him in the 5th but I'd rather look at a guy like Hogan in that range. It's been reported by Gil Brandt (give that whatever relevance you choose) that Hogan is a lot more cerebral of a QB than many in this draft. I like the odds of a guy like that soaking it all in from Romo over the next couple of years rather than the "better athlete". Tom Brady is no premier athlete either. Just a damned smart QB (and no, I'm not proclaiming Hogan to be the next Tom Brady).

I hear ya... wouldn't mind Hogan either... for the same reasons.

Hackenberg is trash.

Hack-WR-Screen-Miss.gif

Yeah... no. At least he's not more trash than any other QB in this draft not named Goff or Wentz. He's developed a bad habit of not moving his feet in the shotgun. Throws fine when he does. Very much fixable.

don't really have anything to say why, but he reminds me of Romo when Romo first came into the league, really raw just slinging ball around.

Yes. Doing that.
But think of the O line he may have in front of him and the WR's who do not drop the ball all the time.
Granted he needs work with down field timing and ball placement.

If he went in the right round to us, I would be thrilled. That round would probably be 3 or 4, though.
