Watching Sam Williams and Fowler pass rushing vs the Giants

I think the defensive coordinator may be bad.
or and facts may take us to this conclusion. The players arent as good as we like to think they are.

Lets see how the season unfolds and we ll get a clearer picture instead of after 2 games.

Fowler is not looking like a good signing.
I agree. But i just can't help but think its the scheme. Hard to believe everyone forgot or lost their ability to rush OR cover all at once. Have to remind myself that even last year they were abysmal early on defensively but got much better as the year went on. Hoping for the same.

I’ve seen plenty of zoomed out videos that show the entire defense having mental breakdowns on the same play.

Either they’re all dumb or the coach has done a horrible job coaching.

I'd say the same thing about Williams as I have been saying about Diggs. He is just coming off a season long injury. He could be rusty and maybe not 100% yet. I see some flashes but not the speed he played with before he was injured. We have to see if he improves as the season progresses. He still might become something worthwhile.

Oh, I actually thought there was video of them rushing the passer on Sunday. Because I must of missed it when I was watching the game.

I was out of town during the game vs the giants but I see its on YouTube now.

I am watching it and man was that defense TERRIBLE. No pass rush from the DE's.Diggs and Elam were both terrible and Wilson should have been benched (though he did make an INT to end the game at the end).

Wilson is not a coverage safety. And watching Sam Williams rush the passer is bad. Zero moves put a pull rush. Too slow of the ball to beat the OT with speed. And what's up with Kneeland constantly lining up too far off the ball. Almost like a 1/2 to a yard further back then the rest of the defensive line on a few plays I seen.

To me, the best pass rush was a missed sack by Kenny Clark.

But I thought Thomas was solid all around.

Need to go back and watch Toia's reps.

we are not a smart franchise. top to bottom.

30 years, and still some posters need more time to lean.

I dont blame the players, coaches put them on the field.

Mike Nolan bad.
Yep..

What he’s doing is simple and there is miscommunication everywhere.

I’ve seen these same players for years together & I saw more miscommunication in the giants
Game than I have the last 2 or 3 seasons all together.

Just consistently letting WRs run by with no safety help.

What help did he think was back there though? If he understands the call he knows where the other defenders are lined up. On one of the last Giant TD in the 4th, he looks around and sees that the safety is only a few yards deeper than him & probably 20 yards away (middle of the field). Yet he stands flat footed & let's the receiver pass him, then looks around and tries to catch up.

The only way the safety would be in position is if he immediately bailed at snap to cover the post. No reason for Diggs to be expecting that. Now you could make the argument that the safety should have been deeper. Seems logical to me but that isn't where he was lined up.

Why wasn't Diggs backpedalling til the receiver declared the route? I mean standing allmost still wasn't ever going to be a correct defensive position.
Diggs is an undisciplined overpaid diva and is a huge part of the problem

Any sensible GM would trade him to a contender at the trade deadline but we have a moron
