Watching the Jags tonight...

...gives me pause in realizing just how good our Cowboys truly are.

I knew that the Jags/Steelers matchup was going to be a great defensive battle tonight, but I could easily see Jacksonville up by 14 points right now if they hadn't gone so darn conservative in the 1st half. The point is that they are thoroughly dominating the Steelers right now and should by all accounts win this football game.

I think that had we watched the Jags play the Steelers first in the regular season and then we played them the following week with the same outcome for both games, we probably would have come out of our matchup feeling a little more positive about the loss.

The Jags are just that good - but I still believe that we're better.

Thoughts?

The Jags D is Definitely playing lights out tonight against Pitt. Of course this is a heated rivalry...Jags always bring their A game against the Steelers.

We lost to a very good Jaguar team...Unfortunately it was a very winable game for us.

It definitely makes you wonder how we were so dominant in the beginning of our game. Then Bledsoe got hurt, and we were done. A team that beat us playing this tough does make us look better.

It's lower-scoring, but this 3rd quarter against PIT looks kind of familiar.

Methinks Jacksonville's a pretty good team.

Yep, that's precisely what I was thinking. To watch the Steelers struggle on offense (I mean really struggle), makes me feel really good about how easily the Cowboys scored 10 on them so quickly.

This matchup was also suppose to be big for Pittsburgh too. Everyone kept trumping up Big Ben's "coming out party" for this game. The Jags aren't buying into it and refused to let the loss of their pro-bowl DE in the Dallas game affect their play tonight.

Interesting enough, ESPN picked tonight to do a film about how well the pittsburgh fans travel with their team...to the point that they were suggesting that the Jags' home-field advantage would be minimal. Everyone picked the Steelers.

Thus far, everyone is wrong on all accounts...but its still a close game.

If we played em in Dallas it woulda been a win. Playing on the road in the NFL ain't easy. Especially to start the season.

I picked Jax to beat us. Not becuase I don't think we are gonna have a good season, but because I don't think we play a tougher game all season long. A 12-4 hardnosed football team on the road ... tough assignment for anyone. Just ask the Steelers.

Well to me it hurts even more.

I was ready for this team and this defense to take a step forward and beat a STRONG team such as the Jaguars on the road in a hostile environment.

I just cant get excited about whoopin up on the Deadskins.

This game tonight is having the opposite effect on me.

Stag, I honestly believe that the Jags are Superbowl contenders right now. The only teams that could possibly stop them in the AFC are the Colts and perhaps the Chargers.

Roethlesberger is being exposed in this game. If you can take away the Steelers run (admittedly, easier said than done) and make Roethlesberger beat you with his arm the Steelers will be lucky to put up 6 points.

I hope the Jags win just so I don't have to watch Cowher making out with his players again.

On a side note... I think Pittsburgh has a pretty bad offense. Parker doesn't scare me much, he's like a smaller Tyson Thompson. Ward isn't one of those WRs who commands double teams every play. Big Ben is better as a bus driver.

Even Week 1, yeah Batch played, but offense to offense, I think Miami was better, and we all saw what happened to them this week. If not for Culpepper making a couple mistakes, Miami probably would have won.

I think this season the Super Bowl curse reverses. Last season's WINNER won't make it to the playoffs, but the loser will... My AFC playoff teams. Indy, Jax, NE, SD, Cincy, Baltimore.

Let's wait for the Chargers to play a decent team before we start saying they could play with teams like the Colts or the Jags. So far they have played the worse two teams in the NFL.

The rest of their division doesn't look great though. KC and Denver played an awfully boring game this week. I think SD could easily win that division, even going 9-7 or so.

And to think the AFC West was touted as better than the AFC North and NFC East by some "experts."

Jags still don't impress me with their offense. Leftwich isn't a superbowl caliber QB yet. He has to at least take them to the AFC championship game before I say that. Their defense is definately excellent. But their recievers are still nothing special. Yes, they have moments they look good, but come on. This is only game 2 so far. Wait until the 2nd half of the season before we proclaim them superbowl bound.

ESPN just put up the score from the first game of the season trying to show how good the Jags are now.
I am not disagreeing but....the score was 24-17 not 28-17.

Damn ESPN get your facts straight!
