1) God I miss football this time of year. Sorry NBA unwatchable till playoffs. NCAABB sucks since one and done or directly to NBA.

2) Witten is a football god. If he is not the best TE in the league, I dont know of anybody I'd rather have. Top five player NFL IMO.

3) Cowboys were a horrible tackling team last year. Saw two of the biggest offenders whiff on McNabb on one play. That was Henry and Burnett. Getting rid of those two plus RW38 is addition by subtraction.:starspin

horrible tackling goes back to not working enough in training camp in hitting, and being physical

kinda like landry would say when the former cowboys would miss tackles, he said we need to get back to basics

but when your head coach says i wont overwork this team, etc, then you have a problem,

maybe that attitude has changed because of what some coaches are doing now, getting onto players, making them accountable,

all we can do, give the cowboys players the benefit of the doubt and let them show us that they want to be champions, work hard, practice hard and study and show alittle more intensity

Why was our offense clicking that game? And then lays an egg on some other games?

I don't know why we can't put up 24-36 points every game..this offense shows flashes of what they can be.

Why?

*Because we don't play the same defenses every game.

*Because one minor mental error by an O-line player can cause a drive to stall one game whereas maybe he didn't have that error the previous game.

*Because some refs call more penalties than others on false starts, holding, etc than others do.

*Because injuries happen, and even though some will tell you that is no excuse, it DOES matter if your QB, top WR, or top RB is injured and either can't play or is not 100%.

*Because sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug when it comes to which way the ball bounces.

And that's just a few reasons oiff the top of my head. Face it, it's not an exact science. Things which work against one team don't necessarily work the same way against another. That's life.

Agreed. You still need to put up 25+ points a game unless you have a dominating defense.

I watched like 10 minutes of the Week 4 Commander game a little yesterday(it was tough to watch) and Hamlin actually played well..I like how he just drills Moss on that poorly thrown slant..I still like him and think he can be a servicable FS.

that's if he's playing 30 yards off the ball, other than providing deep help, the guy is useless

I think Hamlin is way oversold here. He had a bad year, yes. Maybe the big contract went to his head a little. But he's a smart, hard-hitting player, and I think he'll bounce back this year.

Exactly..I've always liked Hamlin and honestly think he was playing hurt most of the season..plus he was playing with Killa and Watkins as his partner is crime, that's not a good mix. I like his toughness and with a good solid S alongside him I think he can have an 07 year again.

The Oline played well in that game as well. We need that oline for 16 weeks next season.

A lot of people have a hard time bringing down Donnavan McNabb.

We had some huge breakdowns on key plays last year, but generally speaking, the tackling wasn't that bad.

Playing 8 top-five defenses, 3 games without Romo and several more with him and an injured hand might have something to do with the offensive performance.

That first Eagle game was just a great game, though.

servicable FS's dont get 40 million dollars

it's the worst contract we've ever given to a player, bar none...he was horrendous last yr...it was either total lack of effort or we absolutely blew it

and he wasnt just bad at one thing...he was horrible vs the run and the pass

I hope so...we need him to with the contract he got.

But I never thought he was that good in 2007 anyway, and really for the first time I think Jones got sucked on a contract we gave to somebody.

Ken Hamlin also spent most of the off-season out of the Dallas area while waiting for a long term contract to get negotiated in place of his franchise tag.

Marion Barber did the same thing and Julius Jones trained on his own the year before.

More often than not, bad seasons seem to follow such decisions.

You mean with all that talent they should be putting up high-scoring numbers every week? I wonder who bogs them down....

Heh statistically I don't think that's possible but I admit it certainly felt that way in the latter half of the season.
