I hope so...we need him to with the contract he got.

But I never thought he was that good in 2007 anyway, and really for the first time I think Jones got sucked on a contract we gave to somebody.

Yep. Hamlin's 07 campaign was highlighted by gift interceptions and playing on a team that was scoring 30+ per, more freedom and less responsibility. We saw where he goes when the going gets tough.

You mean with all that talent they should be putting up high-scoring numbers every week? I wonder who bogs them down....

I didn't rewatch this game. Saw it on but didn't care to rewatch it. I'm ready to focus on the draft and this coming year.

The Oline played well in that game as well. We need that oline for 16 weeks next season.

They did play a great game. Hopefully, they can figure it out this year.

Why?

*Because we don't play the same defenses every game.

Actually, we were facing the same defenses all year with the exception of SF and Seattle. Everyone else ran the same strategies against from the Green Bay game till the end of the season. Jam our WRs on the line, safety over the top to double Owens, put a speed rusher on Flozell, and run blitz the gaps.

The offense simply never adjusted, and that is generally on Garrett for not being innovative.

1) God I miss football this time of year. Sorry NBA unwatchable till playoffs. NCAABB sucks since one and done or directly to NBA.

2) Witten is a football god. If he is not the best TE in the league, I dont know of anybody I'd rather have. Top five player NFL IMO.

3) Cowboys were a horrible tackling team last year. Saw two of the biggest offenders whiff on McNabb on one play. That was Henry and Burnett. Getting rid of those two plus RW38 is addition by subtraction.:starspin

Yeah, but Ware also missed him on that play. Do you really think it's all because certain players suck or is it becquse McNabb makes lots of teams look like that.

I hate him as an Eagle. I love his talent. He has his problems but he's a great talent who makes lots of people miss him via his wheels and talent and/or his size and strength.

We are a poor tackling team despite McNabb's talents and this is one area I lay at the feet of Wade. It's just not a few players.

Ken Hamlin got paid, because now teams can't just throw deep bombs down the middle and torch the Cowboys. He prevents stuff like the 2006 Saints game, ect...ect..ect... That over pay was due to poor drafting at the position.

That is where his value lies. Having said that, his tackling in the run game has been suspect at best like Jerry's Advocate alluded. Not falling on or picking up that Ware forced fumble in the Ravens game proved costly.

Hamlin did a good job with all the young rookies and Pacrat playing with him last year, I think. However, his unwillingness to hit running backs or tackle them looks evident. Plus, his angles are poor at times. Then, he dives wildly at their feet. It looks like he is avoiding contact to me.

It is the run game that concerns me. Playing him at SS is asking to see some more of:

Amad Bradshaw, Ryan Grant, Stephen Jackson, and that dude for the Lions, LeRon McClain, and Willis Magahee galloping freely through the defense and for TDs.

Heh statistically I don't think that's possible but I admit it certainly felt that way in the latter half of the season.

It is if you play the same teams twice... :cunning:

Seriously, think about that stat: that half of our games came against top-5 defenses, and that two others were played with Romo out.

That's not an excuse for poor execution and underperforming depth, but it does give some perspective. That's a muderers' row of games the offense was up against last year.

I think Hamlin is way oversold here. He had a bad year, yes. Maybe the big contract went to his head a little. But he's a smart, hard-hitting player, and I think he'll bounce back this year.

I agree, tackling was Hamlins greatest strength prior to last season.

That used to be RW greatest strength also funny how a couple of mill prevents you from plowing through ppl. Let's not forget that Hamlin has a career year his first year here....but whatever.
