So much for home-field advantage.
The visiting Cowboys might have had more fans cheering them Sunday than the Florida Marlins have recently had in Dolphin Stadium at some of their home games.
Dallas fans were so loud against the Dolphins, they often even drowned out boos for the Dolphins on the Cowboys' successful plays. Quarterback Trent Green wasn't shaken by the lack of home-field loyalty, since it's something every growing team goes through.
''Talking with Cam [Cameron] about San Diego, with what they built out there, it got better and better there,'' Green said. ``Now, [San Diego] is a very formidable place to play. If you start winning, fans get excited. We didn't do that [Sunday].''
Linebacker Channing Crowder said he also noticed the high number of Cowboys fans on hand, but he said it didn't bother him.
''A lot of retired people come down here, and a lot of people love to live here,'' Crowder said. ``They have a bunch of fans. Green Bay had more fans than us last year. The Jets always have a lot, too, because it's too cold up there [in New York].
``But I don't give a damn about the other fans. I don't like any fans but Dolphins fans.''
GINN A FACTOR
It didn't take long for Ted Ginn Jr. to get the Cowboys' attention. After a 23-yard return on Dallas' first punt, the Cowboys started to kick away from the rookie. He returned six kickoffs for 121 yards, averaging 20.2 yards per kickoff. His longest was 31 yards. On three punt returns, he averaged 12.3 yards.
NOT A SNAP
Center Samson Satele and quarterback Trent Green refused to play the blame game when it came to Sunday's botched snap that led to a Cowboys fumble recovery.
On the play in question, which led to a Cowboys field goal and a 10-point lead, Satele said he was unsure of what went wrong, but Green said the replay proved it was the quarterback's fault.
''That's all on me,'' Green said. ``When you see the ball pop up in the air, that is generally the quarterback's fault. It's my fault.''
Said Satele: ``I don't know, we've got to go and watch tape. I take blame for that.''
Green and Satele headed to the sideline right after the play, where they practiced the quarterback-center exchange in an attempt to correct the error before the next series.
INACTIVE LIST
For the second consecutive game, rookie running back Lorenzo Booker and rookie linebacker Abraham Wright, defensive tackle Rodrique Wright and rookie quarterback John Beck were inactive. After playing in the opener, rookie defensive tackle Paul Soliai was ive. Other inactive players were recently signed safety Lamont Thompson, cornerback André Goodman, and safety Courtney Brown.
