I remember the Giants, not the Cowboys, being the offseason darlings this year. The final preseason power rankings had them the 2nd best team in the NFL.

Hows that workin' out for them??

I don't understand how some of you wait ALL offseason for the regular season to start........and then only 5 games in you're talking about tanking, etc.

It's not like we're a winless dumpster fire. And look around....the league is bereft of "powerhouses" right now. We are most certainly still in it.

On a separate note-
The last few weeks have been eye opening regarding the ridiculousness of this fanbase. Maybe it's just me but it didn't seem this bad around here during previous seasons.

The board went overboard. I never understood the Super Bowl optimism this defense stinks like bad feet. Plus Dummy is still head coach.

Go back and look at the boards in July. The F.O. was being regaled at superior and right on with the rookie and free agent acquisitions. Our defense was going to be awesome with Taco added to a young and hungry front. Our linebacking was going to be improved with Jaylon playing up to his pre-injury greatness. The DBs and Safeties we lost were old, slow and bad hitters. They would be replaced by highly athletic, hard hitting and ball hawking rookies. Our defense was a turnover machine.

NOT SO MUCH!!!

Our defense does not know what the heck a turnover is. QBs love to throw against our zone. There are openings all over the field and our players do not know how to tackle. Jaylon is playing like a lost puppy rookie. He is constantly out of place and makes plays 6 or 7 yards down the field. Taco is useless. People wonder after the game whether he played at all. We have no ballers on defense except Lee, Scandrick and Irving/Lawrence, sometimes. Everyone else is a JAG. 30 and 31 have taken two steps backwards. 38 is no starter, plain and simple. Our defense has regressed. At least last year we stopped the run. Now we let second stringers put 100 on us in the first half.

Time for Red Ball and Marinelli to go, plain and simple. We are getting sub-optimal play from our team.
Shame on us who thought in July that we would be building on our 13-3 record of last year.

This team is another disappointment. I feel sorry for Dak, he is the only one who is exceeding expectations.
Zeke and the O-Line have also regressed. TWill is highly suspect and Dez is way over rated. We keep thinking he is the king of the Ally OOP. He is not, he has one route, the slant. Other than that he is a feckless route runner. He no longer captures the ball at its highest arc. He routinely gets smaller DBs who jump as high or higher than he does. Stop throwing that play. Last year he showed he could get open on the back shoulder but this year that seems to be out of the play book. Sit TWill and let Bryce and Noah play instead. OBTW, what has happened to Beas. He is less than an afterthought in this offense.
In July I expected the defense to struggle early in the season due to youth. If I had known Lee would miss 2 games, I would have expected them to be losses.

Most sane people knew rookie DEs don't much.

Cooper and Green have been healthier than I expected back then.

About the only surprise has been Zeke's slow start. The OL has been OK individually but they've been out of sync. I guess that should have been expected early in the season.

Most Cowboys fans hate the team, I don't know where this nonsense you speak of comes from!

If this team can overcome youth, injuries, close losses, and the outside distractions that continue to pile up and actually make the playoffs, it will be an epic achievement. I don’t see it happening, but I’ll enjoy the entire season, watching the youngsters grow and seeing phase two of rebuilding the defense in the offseason.

As for fans who claim to not care about playoffs or the division because we aren’t a SB team, WOW!
I’m glad Landry, Staubach, and company didn’t feel that way. They were labeled the team that can’t win the big game as they lost again and again to the Browns and Packers; then lost a SB to the Colts when favored; and even lost both SBs to the Steelers in the 70’s. What the Cowboys did in the 90’s is not typical for any team in the NFL.

When the playoffs begin, I always want to be playing, even as the final seed, even for just one more loss. I love watching the Cowboys play the game more than hoping for draft positioning.

Thank you...glad i didnt have to post this haha
It was metaphoric, not meant to compare actual performance by month. I would have chosen December or January if that were the case. Those are the months the Garrett led teams have folded and gone home for the winter. Do not get me wrong. I love me some Cowboys but I am tired of being sold a bill of goods by Jerruh. And shame on me, I buy it every year. This is the year we build on our successes and move to an elite level and then the dismal qualities of the Jerruh sales pitch comes to light and we lose when we were meant to win. How many different ways can Garrett find to lose games? He is boundless in his ineptitude. Penalties, time management, inability to make adjustments are just a few of his impresario ways of losing. I really wish we would pay him to go away and get a real coach.
