We can win with the offensive players we have ESPECIALLY if they bring in offensive coaches with creativity and who possess the ability to make adjustments.
We can not win with the the defensive players we have. We need at least 4 new starters on defense, probably 5 or 6.
Crawford is overpaid and is ineffective.
Maliek Collins is not a 1Tech and I realize they are doing this to get Irving on the field. One of Irving's strengths is he can play multiple spots. Heck, they have Tyrone Crawford at RDE. Irving can easily play there and slide inside on passing downs.
Lawrence is playing very well but Franchising him earmarks $18M of precious cap room on one player.
Hate to say this but Sean Lee just can't be counted on to give us 16 games. Restructure his deal, and appreciate the games he can play.
Jeff Heath is a liability.
Anthony Brown is a huge liability.
Orlando Scandrick isn't playing up to his contract.
Byron Jones is out of position.
We need athletic, quick linebackers. We can't keep trotting Justin Durant and Kyle Wilber out there and then be surprised when WRs are running away from them.
We need a #1 CB capable of matching up with #1 WRs.
We need a space-taking 1Tech.
We need a safety will ball skills.
So, while it would be nice to add another weapon at WR, Witten's replacement at TE, and a great O linemen to fill that 5th spot, we can't just keep pretending this defense isn't awful.
If we come out this off-season, standing pat, and talking about what a difference a healthy Chidobe Awuzie and a no-longer suspended Randy Gregory will make, it will be another mediocre year where a 1-and-out in the playoffs is our ceiling.
