We are exactly where all of you said we would be near season's end...

We are a slightly above average team fight for a playoff spot with a potential 9-7, 10-6 record. Thatw as the consensus of this board at the start of the year. Now that we have reached YOUR expected goals, you want to throw BP to the curb.

Dare I say it, but the term "agenda" seems radily appropriate....

Exactly

This was a 6-10 team and we are in the hunt. Do I wish we were 10-4? Sure. But we are on expectation and what we are today - a playoff contender...

If recall the expected goals were a playoff appearance with a 9-7, 10-6 record.

We are not favored to beat Carolina and St. Louis has the potential to upset anyone.

For all you know, we could be 8-8 with no playoff appearance and this post of yours would look rather silly now wouldn't it.

Exactly, thanks for verifying my point....

Not really, the point you missed is we aren't guaranteed anything at this point especially with two tough games remaining. To suggest that we have accomplished our preseason objectives is a tad bit immature. But I'm sure you knew this

Wasn't there a poll about predicting the win/loss record? I thought 8-8 or 9-7... I hoped for 10-6, but did not believe that was likely scenario.. Actually I think with a couple of breaks.. we could be looking at 10-4 now with the possibility of finishing 12-4 if things had gone differently in some of our losses. Namely the first 'skins game and the raider game... for that matter the hawks and giants game was within our grasp as well

Most people thought we would be contending, not necessarily making the playoffs. And we wont lose to St. Louis

And me thinks you mean "premature" :lmao:

If you want to look at it that way, we are 5 plays away from being 13-1

Certainly below my expectations thus far. Only way to meet them now is to make the playoffs and make a nice run.

I think people's frustration is that in the two biggest games of the year (NYG & Wash), the Cowboys were outscored 38-0 in the first half of those games. They looked pathetic and were not even competitive. Two huge games with the playoffs on the line and you come out and play like that in the 1st half. That's embarassing and there is no excuse for it. Overall, their record may fall in line with what a lot of people predicted before the year, but they have collapsed in the 2nd half of the season. How many people thought this team would miss the playoffs after starting 7-3, not many I bet. I don't see how anybody wouldn't be disappointed.

As far as the future, I don't really have the warm and fuzzies about the offense. Bledsoe, Keyshawn, Glenn, Allen, Rivera and Adams aren't getting any younger. The offense is old and slow. Bledsoe will almost assuredly be back next year as the starter, but this team still has no long-term solution at QB and until that's fixed, they're not going anywhere.

Yes-at the beg of the season, if they were a 9-7 WC team, I would be MORE than satisfied. HOWEVER...

We WERE 7-3 once upon a time ago, with some picking us to go to the Super Bowl. Did anyone honestly think we WOULD be 7-3 at that pt?

Point is it really *stings* that they've looked incredibly lethargic since.

If we really want to say how we didn't expect to be 8-6 at this point, then we might as well stoop lower than the Saints.

That's it in a nutshell. Very good post.

Those that only look at the W-L record and don't account for the future prospects of this franchise, (most importantly at the QB position), are too shallow in their analysis.

I expected us to be 12-4. Why? I don't know

But we all knew that the Tackle position/center - LB, safety and kicker issues would come back to haunt us and it did. We can no longer try and fix this Oline, we must reconstruct it immediately after this season.

I could care less what we do after that, because if you fix that part, you can hang with people who put up points when your defense shows it's youth and inmature ways.

I called the 7-9 to 9-7 range if we got lucky so looks like 8-8 or 9-7 is more likely to occur. I think the Panthers will destory us and I am wondering if Bill loses the team and we choke with the rams

I think there is a difference between a 9-7 record when you close out the season strong and a 9-7 record when you leave with your tail tucked between your legs.

I predicted 9-7 but I expected us to struggle early and find our form late - I am very disappointed in the players and the coaching staff.

We are still two years away - the same two years away we were at the start of this year. We have not made sufficient progress and someone has to be held accountable.

JJ is a patient man now a days, but not that patient.

If this goes over into next season, I don't think BP would be given the honor of finishing the season. Can you imagine being 5-6 and then getting beaten by the Deadskins in our own house 28-6 next year?
