We are looking for a WR?

Prices have risen. Edleman would not sign for the same thing today.
No way I am paying him 10. Maybe 7. I think they may have already given him a offer and he didn’t like it. Thus the social media posts.

Why would we want Dez? Dez was always a guy who relied on his superior athleticism to win, not fundamentals. Those guys don't age well, nor do they fare well after an Achilles tear. He was a great Cowboy for awhile, but he's done.

He will be lucky to be able to play again after his last injury. Wouldn’t mind seeing him playing for us for minimum and retiring A Cowboy after this year.
Paying minimum would problem not work.

Iif Beasley wants $8 mil..

Dez would probably take $3-5 base with some healthy incentives for play like # of catches, TDs, number of games played, etc.

As the team with his injury history, I would want incentives to protect the salary cap incase he goes down.

But sincerely, he would be a huge addition IMO.

We need to win now.

It's fine to think we have time to do this with strictly young players like Gallup..

,but it takes 2-3 years for a young receiver to really get it going.

Now is the window.

Dez is what..30?

Still viable if we do not base the whole passing offense on him only.

I understood he signed a one year deal with them and then was injured for the year in the first practice.

Maybe I am wrong but that makes him available once the league has started in the new year..

Unless NO did something special to retain him.

Anybody know more?
I think you are correct. Let's you know how much I cared about Dez joining the Saints

Why do you say this? Isit because he wont do what you want him to do? In the last 3 yrs the only team with more wins then the Cowboys are the Patriots. Clearly theyre building a nice core and i say building because this team is really young.
I say it becuz Jerry does something proactive and then sits back and counts his achievements.

He does not followup with strong moves to build on something positive.

It is the liability of having a guy who is a multimillionaire entrepreneur who is off building an empire of stadiums and real estate like the Star.

He owns a bunch of other things like restaurant chains and who knows what else.

GMs with other teams have just one job.

GM.

No way can he be doing it all without things getting neglected somewhere.

This is his biggest weakness with being GM.

It's not that he can't do it..

it's more about doing it well.

Think about all the things he does with the league.

He is on every committee there is except Goodell's chauffer pool.

That's my belief.

Why would the Cowboys consider bringing Bryant back, if he was available?

He went to a meeting thinking he was going to be asked to rework his deal and instead was released. He reacted with saying he was going to an East team like the child he is and if that's not enough, the Cowboys have a good #1 and an emerging #2 and the QB seems better without him. Add to this, McClay, in an unprecedented move, stated why they were releasing him and questioned his route running and achieving separation and he's coming off an Achilles injury. I dunno, think McClay was happy Bryant was gone? I think he was instrumental in his leaving. Why would he want him back?

I would take Dez becuz e knows the offense and should be effective if healthy.

That is the question..healthy.

Even if he still has to get the Achilles in shape over time during the season..

limit his play and snaps.

His deal will not explode into big numbers unless he plays and produces.

To me it's worth the gamble.

The rest of the WRs are crap.

No TE either.

Plus no Beasley?

This is real trouble coming IMO.

That seems to be a need according to some sources.

If Beasley is leaving becuz we are not going to pay him what he wants..

Why not sign Dez?

He is not going to be a #1 WR anymore..

but he can be a #2 or #3 easily.

Gallop can play the slot or outside .

as can Dez.

We need RZ help and Dez has that ability, too

I do not want to start another Dez meltdown thread..

but we have the cap to afford him and the FO needs to figure out how to revisit this for the sake of needing to upgrade the WRs.

Stephen saying Hurns will be back is just crazy.

He has done nothing so far and threatens no defense.

Tayvon Austin has been a another bust and should not be resigned.

What the heck is going on with this team?

Are we trying to win or just sell tickets to pay for Jerrah's yatch?

Come on folks.

I know you guys can debate this

:lmao2:

Get Golden Tate. He is darn shifty and fantastic after the catch...and if Philly doesn't sign him, he'll have a grudge against them and maybe extra shifty twice a year.

Are the Dez and Romo threads never going to end on here? It's freaking painful watching you guys live in the past...
These players are gone...they're not coming back and you seriously need to get over it before you end up causing yourselves permanent long term mental health problems.

Dez now especially after ANOTHER injury isn't going to help you win anything now and Romo moving to the booth was the best thing he's ever done in sports.

Tate would definitely be an improvement.

But I figure Philly will keep him.

And when you talk about shifty..

that is very true.

Again..if Beasley moves on..

Red Zone passing is again an issue.

Being able to get open in the end zone was a problem for us.

No Witten.

And I love Amari..

but Amari is not a threat inside the 20s.

He is much better b/w the 20s where he can use his speed to outrun defenders and have space to make his moves.

And his routes are either quick slants or double moves downfield.

The double moves take time.

Around the endzone..you need to be able to get open quick or contest for the ball against double coverages.

Dez excels there.

It just makes a lot of sense to me.

Now I hate his sideline rants and distractions.

That would have to cease if he returned.

But his desire to win can not be questioned.

Ok.

But I still think we could use immediate help.

We have a tougher schedue this year..

teams are going to devise ways of stopping Zeke better having watched the Rams game..

DAK s still not going to carry by himself no matter how much we want him to.

And I am sounding the alarm early before we are sitting at 2-2 next year wondering what went wrong beuz again..

We are kicking too many FGs

we do not score a lot of points.

Call me goofy..but..

I see this type of post all the time and shake my head.

Jerry isnt the owner he was in the early 2000's. He's not making the same stupid decisions. He built a team the way they wanted without FA and while fans cry about overpaying, Dallas keep winning. Yes they havent won a superbowl in these 3 yrs. In them 3 yrs 31 other teams havent won a superbowl either. I dont care about whats happened before these past 3 yrs because this is a new era in cowboys football thats young and has a bright future. Was it frustrating for me dallas hasnt won a superbowl since 95 yes, but is it anymore for me? NO, why because i see what this team is building.

In every aspect Jerry jones has been a very good GM the past 3 yr except one. Firing JG. But thats who Jerry is, a loyal guy. As much as i hate knowing JG will be HC another yr, i love the fact that Jerry is not a snake like other owners. Jerry will look you in the eye and tell you you got nothing to worry about. And unlike every owner in sports, he is telling you the truth. Thats why his players coaches whoever love him.

Jerry has improved this team in depth, in salary cap, in wins. In atmosphere. IM sorry but just because Jerry doesnt fit your narrative doesnt mean he's a bad GM now. Has he been? hell yes in the past. Now he's getting it done.

We won’t be signing a free agent WR
We may now be looking for a DE

I'll rather pay Beasly an extra 2 million a year and pony up more guarantee than sign half these bums.
