I went to see that movie last night. When I approached the ticket desk I asked the girl "Which should I go see? Rocky or We Are Marshall?" She quickly replied WAM so off I went.

Great movie. Very inspirational. There was one part that got me all fired up for the game on Saturday. When the new coach (Matthew McConaughey) takes the new guys (1971 hastily put together team 95% freshmen fielded on a NCAA waiver) on a field trip the morning of their first home game to remember and pay respect to the team they replaced. That speech had my heart in my throat.

That Marshall team went out that afternoon and beat a heavily favored Xavier team full of Juniors and Seniors. This Marshall team was comprised of 49 Frosh out of 52 players.. CRAZY
They went on to only win one other game that season finishing 2 and whatever but the rich history of what they did for their first home game will always be remembered.

I'm fired up now and can't wait to see the boys whip up on Seattle Saturday night!

Here's the speech. Check it out.

Yes it was a very good movie.Of all people, the guy
that raved about it and convinced me to go see it, was
Mike, from Mike and the Mad Dog.Rocky was good and
got better reviews than i thought the movie actually was,
but my wife and i thought Marshall was very moving and
word of mouth should give it some legs.Great flick.

CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
It has been HUGE where I live.

See not only am I a WVU fan, but also a Marshall Fan.

Being in west virigina you have 3 types of football fans.

1.Likes WVU but hates Marshall

2. Likes Marshall but hates WVU (like manicdepressive man)

3. Likes both WVU and Marshall (like myself)

But it has been huge here, they did a portion of the movie in Huntington and they had all kind of things to do with the actually university and football team.

Matthew Mc was actually at a Marshall game this year on the sidelines rooting for the team.

Funny story was he came to visit the team during practice wearing Texas gear...the coach quickly told someone to get him some marshall gear as he did not want to see the burnt orange.
For those that don't know the current Marshall head coach used to be a defensive coach at Ohio State.

They have also been running ads more than in most places, since it is a movie about a local University.

There was a very good article some time back when they were asking Bobby Bowden about it and he was very open.

At one time FSU's Bobby Bowden was an assistant coach at WVU, well Marshall offered him the HC job. After thinking about it he turned it down and later became the HC of WVU for a year or two. But the coach that took the job that Bowden turned down, was the coach when the plane crashed.

They have also interviewed students, now alumni of course, that were there when it happened and they said the film was done very well.

They really worked with the University in a good way.

I will wait till it comes out on DVD and buy it as I just don't go to movies.

Hilarious story man. There are some really great scenes in the movie. For instance there's one scene where they're trying to put it all together for a Marshall football year following the tragedy. They coaches just don't have the confidence in the scheme they're running on offense so they go to WVU to have a chat with Bobby Bowden. Awesome scene man... I won't spoil it for you.

I think this is a DVD buy for me as well. I really enjoyed it.
