I like the direction of the team, but when you look objectively around the league at what all the other teams did this offseason, it can be a bit discouraging.

Everyone has an opinion and there's no guarantees either way.
But ESPN just released their full offseason grades based on not only their staff, but addition personnel directors giving anonymous assessments.

Of the 32 teams, Dallas came is as about 28th best based on
Players resigned
Players lost
Free agents signed
Draft results

Nevertheless, I'm really looking forward to the season.
We do have some other factors too, like rebounding from more injuries that almost any team and having a 2nd year under the new defensive scheme.

It will be interesting to see how the offense does with a real OC allowed to fully run his offense. Hopefully, Garrett isn't involved at all. Last year, the results were much better when you had someone else running it even with Garrett's meddling.

Linehan wouldn't be my first choice, but he will definitely be better than Garrett and should be better than the whole Callahan running Garrett's system/no kidding I'm taking playcalling back (and still screwing it up) offense of last year.

Didn't anyone else lose a major amount of respect for Garrett after the Green Bay game? He threw everyone under the bus and really took no blame for that debacle in Green Bay. Yet at that time, he was relaying plays. He had plenty of opportunity impact the play call (and I think Broaddus has implied he was straight up calling plays at that point). He's the HC so he can overrule any time he wants. Instead, he just threw Callahan and Romo under the bus.

He won with Parcells team and he flopped big time.

Parcells flopped big time too. One year wonder. He added some talent while he was here I'll give him that. But great coach...? Not during his time in Dallas.

I wish we were the good offensive and defensive line team. We get known for that and we will be in the mix. We don't and we are staring at the same 8-win Romo, Bryant, Witten all by themselves team once again. We are a weak defensive line away from another year of Romo can't win the big one, coordinator firing, and fire jerry the gm horse manure offseason once again. Please let an aggressive defensive line rotation emerge.

He built this team back up. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't even be mediocre now. Jerry flopped big time when he replaced him with Wade and Garrett.

I doubt the ratings have anything much to do with neither our success nor our ability to underachieve. We'll do whichever comes easiest. That's pretty much been our MO for the last 18 years or so. If success happens to come easy enough, we'll be great.

One thing is we have younger and hungrier players now and aged erstwhile players are gone, mostly.

If the d-L rotation works as Marinelli points out , we may not have superstars in those positions but above average players who are kept fresher due to lower snaps and can really give effort in the 4th quarter where we always seem to falter .

Another thing is with OL expected to play better than last year, we should be able to run the ball a little to pick up those 3rd n shorts and so D can be kept fresh.

If by law of averages our safety play improves after sucking all these years , ( and injuries are not overwhelming ) we can do some damage in the league

Nevermind that he got Dallas the talent that has at least helped the team stay mediocre, but he took at team lead by Quincy Carter to the playoffs in his first year. The same talent starved roster that went 5-11 the three previous seasons.

Good, until proven otherwise, we're just an average team, nothing more.

No offense, but any thing ESPN says must be taken with a grain of salt, i.e. totally ignored. Just a bunch of stiff shirts with agenda's. And the "personnel directors giving anonymous assessments" means nothing. I would listen to assessments given ONLY from personnel directors, but not in conjunction with ESPN analysts.

He added a ton of talent. We were truly right in the cusp and we let it slip away.

yes we did. If Jerry would have only chosen a good coach maybe things would have been different. I knew as soon as Wade was appointed that this wouldn't end well.

To make matters worse, Garrett came next. SMH

I belief in this team. I belief was half a horrible defense and a first-rate offense.

As much as I dislike san francisco Harbaugh I belief he could half take this team into the playoffs last year.
Or that guy from Seattle. Even a guy name Carol could do better with last year's team.

As for this year, I already half my blinder ready for when our defense play.
It will be a bad year for our defense. a pityful year. However, I belief our offense will half a great year. Even so, 6-10 if we are lucky.

The problem was not that Parcells left. The problem was the dismantling of the philosophy he had built. Had Jones not decided to revert back to how it was before he arrived, things might have been different. That was a time for continuity, instead that is the theme Jones picked up three years later when it was too late.
