face it, this team has major issues and we arnt as good as we thought we'd be

1) face it part 2, we won the game because Bledsoe bailed us out against a truly horrible defensive team...Bledsoe was a much criticized signing (including by me) but he has been the best free agent acquisition so far..he made one really bad decision, otherwise was awesome

2) teams are really overplaying the cutbacks on Julius Jones..he has very little running room...

3) I cant imagine Jose Cortez making it through the whole yr here

4) Anthony Henry, really good for two games...really awful today...dont know what his deal was today but he was horrendous (the coverage was bad enough, but at least tackle somebody)

5) to the Mike Zimmer sympathizers, get off the illicit drugs...the guy is a HORRENDOUS coach...he is a HORRENDOUS game planner and a HORRENDOUS play caller...he made Tim Rattay look like a perrenial probowler, and thats par for the course for this clown...we gave up more yds today than the Niners had COMBINED in the their first two games

6) DeMarcus Ware and Macus Spears will be really good one day, but not with Zimmer running things here

7) Keith Davis is the one bad player on this defense...he wont be starting much longer...still, when you can honestly look at the 10 other guys and say they are at least average to good and the results are no better than what we've seen, the obvious needs to be done...GROZ

8) Lousaka Polite is pretty useless on the offense, and is downright lousy in pass protection

9) Parcells made one of the alltime dumb calls today with that fake punt...not only was it a horrendous decision, but the play itself was poorly designed

10) Peerless Price I'm sure is wishing he'd have signed elsewhere...barring injury, he just isnt going to see the field much here...and its not because he stinks, its because our other 3 guys and our TE are just that good

bottom line is we really lucked out today to be playing against such a bad team...we still cant rush the passer despite vast talent upgrades...we still see play after play where other team WR's are wide open, and to make matters worse today we couldnt even stop the run vs a lousy running team...this defense has enough talent to be good, yet its sorry, and its sorry because we have a horrendous coach running it...they overhauled the defensive talent this offseason, next offseason the defensive staff needs overhauling..we'll never win big with Zimmer running our defense and calling the shots, period.

well, IMO, that makes us sound like we are 0-3, we are not. We are 2-1, therefore, there must be at least 20 positives to match up with your 10 negatives. For that, I am greatful; and I have faith that the coaches will see those things that you see and take the necessary action to correct them. Maybe next week it'll be down to 5!! ; )

we're 2-1, but aint very far from 0-3

and the two teams we beat have almost no chance of being playoff teams

Face it.

The Cowboys are better than last year which isn't saying much. They've added some good players to their defense but still look lost about half the time.

Bledsoe is a definite improvement at QB although today he threw an interception right to the Niner player.

When we win we'll just barely do so. We're not a team that can blow teams out and haven't been for years.

Actually, we're closer to 3-0 than to 0-3. FWIW.

but were still 2-1. You have to give some props. thats all I'm saying. We held LT to 72 yards, and Clinton Portis to like 50 something, give some props, lol. But I do agree with you, I just like to stay away from saying negative things myself. I tend to look at positives first.

Actually, we're about right where I thought we'd be. I was hoping and praying for 2-1 when I saw the schedule.

Most of us talked about how the defense would be suspect at the beginning of the year. This is a new scheme, with new players, with a coach that's never coached this defense before.

Did you expect 86 Bears? Our defense will show flashes for a while. At times we'll look very good, as we did for most of the game Monday night. At times they'll look poor......like today.

We have to expect that.

Sure, we have issues......and we'll continue to have them on defense for most of the year. But we'll slowly start to "get it", so by the end of the season, we'll be pretty tough.

I think we're headed for an 8-8 season. That's pretty good for us, considering how much turnover and change we've had.

Well first off.. speak for yourself.

Beyond that, I dont know what you expect sometimes. Yeah we know you got a beef with MZ. But even still, you got a defense learning a totally new scheme and with a number of first year players to boot. Makes sense that thered be some serious breakdowns.

On offense you got a better QB thank god and it shows. For the first time in a long time we're getting it in the endzone. And presumably it can only get better, barring injuries, due to familiarity.

But all things considered at this point, to presume we'd be a decently oiled machine is asking a bit much. We're just another team that might look pretty good one week and not so good the next. Thats just how it's gonna be.

Besides, the defense gagged in the 1st half instead of the 2nd half for once... so cheer up. ;)

I will say this though.

On offense the Cowboys are fun to watch. They mix the pass and run well. They are throwing the ball down the field. I loved the flea flicker play from Monday. They're FUN to watch on offense.

I squirm though watching the defense. But the poster is right. They are learning a new defense and it's going to be tough most games. When they get beat they get beat badly.

But this team is alot more fun than last year's. By far.

Why are some so insistent on writing the ending to this season when it has barely begun? A lot of ebbing & flowing will take place over the next 14 weeks before playoff teams and matchups are established.

Look at this team, we have lots of youth. And many who are not young are at least new here. We are just beginning. Of course I would love to be 3-0 right now and have dominated each game on O & D. The reality is, that we are 2-1 and probably better offensively and worse defensively than most expected - at this point.

But what we are at this point doesn't need to be what we are in 2 more weeks, or 6, 13. We, like many other NFL teams are a work in process. I'm having fun watching us compete every week even if its far less than perfect. I didn't expect to win the SB this year and we probably won't. But I'm not gonna grouse about our imperfections at this point even when we have lots of time to try to rectify some.

Last year was abysmal. I'm enjoying this years ride even if it has some bumps.

I pretty much agree, especially that our defense is playing through some growing pains with the new 3-4 scheme, new players and rookies. However, I hope and think we can be a 9 or even 10 win team if our defense starts to gel before the second half of the season.

1) Yes he has been underrated since the day he was signed.

2) we should somehow be able to take advantage of this

3) I can't either, but let's see what happens, which don't look like much.

4) yes, what happened today?

5) TRUE TRUE TRUE....I never cared for his defenseive calls, always the wrong blitz calls in 3rd and long...and they always convert, so it seems, this guy is bad.

6) Agree

7) Agree also, put him back on ST...problem is, who do we put in his place.

8) looks likeit so far, let's see with him also, no better options yet. Barnes was injured, but no improvement there either.

9) That was worse than Switzer's calls with Emmitt at the Iggles on 4th and 1

10) yes, but certainaly they can find a way to use him

yes we lucked out, but so did the deadskins on Monday, so that is just the way it is. Ill take it. We should be 3-0, but many other teams can say that also. 2-1 is a decent start, so let's build from here. Yes they have work to do, but the fought and hung in there, did not give up, and that is a sign of improvement right there.

We have a very tough game next week. Oakland gave all it had against the Iggles, and almost won. I think the Eagles were as lucky as us to win. Let's enjoy this one and hope to see good adjustments next week.

Well, except Zimmer, but I keep hoping.

I can't say Zims is a great coach, but look at his starting team. Ferguson, Ware, Spears, Burnett, Davis, Glenn, Canty and Henry are all rookies or new this year. I think we have to expect they will improve as the season goes on.

More excuses for Zimmer.

They just never run out I guess.

face it, the only two pressure players we really have are glover and ellis still. once a tackle get his hands on ware, hes finished. teach this kid some moves or something, and how many times did the tackle push him deep past the qb.. it looked like ware was chasing air. i really dont want to see coleman out there anymore, the guy isn't starting quality.

replace coleman with spears and never let davis play on defense again, we need a true free safety.

im starting to have my doubts about jj too, his longest run is 14 yards in 3 games? umm.. what exactly is the problem? hes to bulky and slow now.

Dude, I hate Zimmer just as much as the next guy (HH)...but this is now BP's defense and he bears some responsibility.

Also, while I buy into the rookies on defense excuse to a certain extent...I think have Davis as FS is what's killing us more than anything.

Spears, Canty and Ware are all rookies, but they are also big upgrades on talent over what was here...Burnett isnt playing on defense right now...Ferguson, Glenn and Henry are all multi-yr starters

there wont be much, if any improvement...the same guy thats the problem today will still be a problem in November and December, just like he's been a huge problem the prio 6 seasons
