hahah upset? Over what? You guys were the 11point favorites. We came in injured and I didn't expect a win. You guys can't even take pleasure in beating us but scrambling to find excuses to why you didn't blow us out. A team that is riddled with injuries and a bust of a QB.
It's too bad that you guys aren't good enough to overcome your injuries like we are (Terry Glenn, Jason Ferguson, Anthony Henry).

Since you are a Skins fan I will go slow:

A game = Passing, Rushing, Pass Rush and Coverage all played to the best of the players ability.

B game = One phase lacking (i.e., crap pass rush but all other phases were excellent)

I think you can figure out the rest.

Cowboys had Good passing attack and a decent pass rush. Coverage was too soft, running game was almost a non-factor, hence, we had a 'C' effort.

Or maybe the other team stopped the pass rush and rushing attacks?

The Commanders played their Superbowl Sunday and lost.

I was impressed with Jason Campbell's play on Sunday. He had an excellent game and got the skins close to victory. I was expecting to see a ton of Portis but actually saw something quite different. Particularly in the second half, the Cowboys offensive drives took up very little time and our defense got very tired. It also might be debatable how much of Campbell's success was the product of a "Portis Centered" game plan. I thought I saw some post-game comments that to lead me to believe that was our plan.

The columnists in the Washington Post this morning see Campbell's maturing play on Sunday as very promising for the future. I suspect skins fans everywhere are as satisfied as one can get after a loss because so many good things happened and the skins could very well have won the game in spite of a very good offensive Cowboy performance. If I were them, I'd be encouraged.

There has been a "more than usual" amount of distress on this board than is normal following a victory. That's no accident because our defense looked less than dominating all day. This was the second game in a row that opposing tight ends played pivotal roles in our opponents offensive game plans (and success). I think a number of folks are looking ahead to the Green Bay game and their spread offense and seeing real problems.

We'll see.

EVERY TEAM CAN PLAY BETTER AND EVERY TEAM CAN PLAY WORSE. Stop playing this what if scenario. I could go back to any game and say "If we played better we would win".

Apparently you fail to understand what I meant by "we could've played better".... we could have played better because we are better then how we played... get it? No? No suprise, you are a Commanders fan, you refuse to believe anything except "Commanders are great", you lost the game, you had injuries, every team does...... wow.

Well, duh. Damn, you ARE a Skins fan, aren't you?

For whatever reason, those phases of the game were not successful. In our case, the players didn't play as well as they can. In YOUR case, they played their best but it wasn't enough.

I happen to be one of a few guys on this board who think Jason Campbell is a good QB.I've never joined in on the Campell=Q.Carter stuff. It was obvious from watching the game though, that the Commanders were playing with heart and they deserve to take some pride away from this loss. However, we are the better team currently and we really should have played better then that, because for a long time we looked flat and sloppy.

Or maybe our defense made you guys played that bad until the 2nd half? Or maybe our offense moved the ball well on you guys? Maybe the other team have something to do with it?
Isn't it a wonder why every team that played the Patriots look like crap?
I can't believe you guys are arguing this. Whatever I'm out. I have classes to attend.

yes your defense is the reason Gurode snapped the ball while Romo was changing the play, good call.

Your "defense" gave up 4 TD's to TO, that was the real Commanders.

Yes, it was your defense that turned Gurode into a rocket launching ******.

They are not successful because the other team neutralized it? If you guys played the Dolphin offensive line that would of been a 5 sack day. Please stop with the heart thing. You saw how fired TO and Romo was.

H3ll no!!!!! some people are never happy. every team has an area that they can improve...Dallas just beat the division back to back to back. 10 down 6 to go and we're 9-1. IMO every nfc east game is a rivalry and they won 3 in a row. two games away from sweeping the east. other than the Pats who else doesn't have problems, look at the scoreboard alot of "top notch" teams barely won. threadstarter i give you an F-.

Your defense didn't stop us. :laugh2:

Please.

We were driving each time Gurode launched his beauty of a long snap and that's what stopped us in the first half. Heck, Romo even said on the one where he threw the INT that he had TO and since he had to go get the snap back before he threw it, the defender had a chance to catch up.

Without that INT and with the likely TD Romo would have had if Gurode hadn't freaked out... the whole first half probably turns out different and you guys get the blowout you were expecting from Dallas.

As it is, it gave the Skins momentum and hope... which fueled your team's play for the whole game.

*sigh* Stats don't always tell the whole story, man, you know that. Taking the sacks out of context, yeah, it looks great. We don't often get a sack or a pressure in clutch situations where we really NEED it.

Yesterday was not the whole season.

We didn't play our best game yesterday, like you said in your own post. It happens to teams in all sports over a long season. When that happens and the other team does bring a good effort, the superior team is going to look closer to the inferior team than they should. Why is that so hard for people to accept?

THis was a divisonal game. The Commanders had to have that game and we needed to secure the east.

A, B or C?

That is stupid. Sorry to put it that way but it is stupid to say a team played to a certain level.

The Commanders are a good team, when you play a good team you expect to get hit in the mouth a few times just like you expect to hit them in the mouth a few times.

That is what happened. A, B and C do not matter.

We won a tough close game against a good team who played better than they have in a month.

It will be interesting to see if the Commanders were emptying the tank or adjusting and refocusing, and I think they will find out against a pretty good Defense in Tampa. They lose and they are not making the playoffs.

LOL...really? So if we come out and stink up the joint, make miscues, penalties and Romo throws 4 picks we aren't allowed to say 'Wow, the Cowboys stunk today'?

Of course we can...oh, and that would be an 'F' game.

theebs, I agree. Tampa Bay is no pushover these days and we'll see if the skins can turn things around. Regardless, the NFC East looks to be, top to bottom, the best in the NFC and perhaps the NFL.

Let me try another example.

Yesterday, the Jets beat the Steelers.

The Steelers are a better team than the Jets on most Sundays. I think we all realize and accept that.

The Steelers did not play up to their potential. The Jets played very well.

As a result, the game was an upset.

Stuff like this happens all the time in sports - whether it's high school, college, or the pros.

Yesterday, for whatever reason, our center, Gurode, who's a Pro Bowl calibre center, decided to launch footballs over the head of our QB, at his helmet before the snap, etc. This is not typically how we execute on offense (though Gurode had done this once before vs. the Rams, but never several times during a game).

Simply said, we did not play as sharp as we should have. And we hadn't made these stupid mistakes vs. the Eagles and Giants two weeks prior.

That said, I think Campbell may have played his best game of his young career thus far and looked pretty good against us. And I think the Commanders played with a lot of heart.

F game? now it A, B, C and F?

why no D.

and no if we lost yesterday it would have been because a good team played better than us. Plain as that.

Rivalry games are always tough to read. On paper, this had the makings of a massacre, but in practice it wasn't. The Skins had something to play for, at least in their minds. And maybe Dallas didn't quite bear down like they should have. But the talent differential made the difference yesterday: Washington has a ways to go to get their Romo/Owens combination.

It may look completely different the next time around, who knows? As long as the team understands where they have to improve and follows through, then even a close, ugly win could be a good thing.

Yeah we just get interceptions when we NEED it. TNew against the Bills and now Skins.

How about 2 straight sacks against Eli last week when they were only down 7 I think.

Wade said the team wasnt prepared for the Skins passing game. We had a bad defensive gameplan and still won.

That being said, there was too much optimism floating around. I'm glad we almost lost this game.
